  Free Miata Diff, Broken.
Posted by: PDenbigh - 10-02-2012, 11:42 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (2)

Here's the unsuccessful ebay listing if you want pictures: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/261102166360?item=261102166360&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:EOISSU:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr">http://www.ebay.com/itm/261102166360?it ... 23&vxp=mtr</a><!-- m -->

Rear Differential from a 1992 Miata. At minimum, the ring gear is stripped. The two half shafts turn just fine. The pinion does not (probably due to the debris from the ring gear). This would be a great core for a rebuild, upgrade to a limited slip carrier, etc. It's priced accordingly too, as you'll see! I just want it out of my garage.

Shipping cost is the buyer's responsibility, but I'll do it as cheaply as I can!

Located in Staunton, VA, 24401 if you want to arrange to pick up. I'll also be at Virginia International Raceway October 12-14 (Danville, VA) and can bring it there.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Peter

Who all is going?

I'll be there Thursday night in time for dinner -- Aaron is going to be teaching me the ways of Pace Car + Comp School on Friday... then Saturday/Sunday I'm driving Pace 1.

We oughta have some hotel space if students want to come down for the weekend.

Looking to get a car trailer. As the title said at least 16ft but 18 would be best. Does not need to be super heavy duty just looking for a good price...read CHEAP. Could trade a 6X10 ALL STEEL utility trailer with three pull out ramps partial for it. Anyone know of anything or have one let me know. Thakns!

  WTB - Cheap Wheels
Posted by: Ken - 09-21-2012, 03:35 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (7)

Hey Guys,

Looking to get myself a set of wheels for the winter, anything at or near these specs would be awesome:

Diameter: 18inches
Width: 8.5
Offset: +38

Again, emphasis is on cheap. I really don't care how they look as long as they dont look like COMPLETE ass on the car.

Thanks in advance,

Ken

  WHAT IS GOING ON.
Posted by: Smackthatbird - 09-21-2012, 11:59 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (15)

I already posted this on Facebook and got some good input, but I figured this might be a better place to ask.

This started all of a sudden last weekend out of nowhere. Driving around Richmond and I noticed that, at idle, my car was really shaking around. Absolutely no loss of power or problems once I was moving, it's just at idle. Sometimes it really feels like it's about to die on me, but it hasn't yet. I've had a solid CEL the whole time, not flashing, so it's not super-srs but I still want it fixed.

OBD scan gave me: Random misfires, misfires on all 4 cylinders, and system too lean codes.

I bought new coilpacks a few days ago, which was stupid, but the first time I scanned I somehow missed the random misfire code so I thought it could've been the coils. Of course, it wasn't.

Took it by Midatlantic Motorwerkes and talked to a mechanic because I would've just paid to have it fixed if he knew for sure what it was, but all he said was to maybe try getting my fuel pressure checked at the Audi dealer in Charlottesville... and that's an hour drive and would definitely cost me and I'm really not convinced it's a fuel pump problem, because everything I know about that suggests that I'd be having power loss issues, which I don't.

Any thoughts?

If you think it's the fuel pump, is that really possible without at least some noticeable power loss? I CAN drive down to Cville to have it tested if it's really a good idea.

Hey guys, I'm a freshman at JMU this year. I drive a 10' Mazda 3. Slow, yeah, but a first car is a first car and I'm glad I at least got one. I won't be able to access my car this year since I am from Cape Coral, Florida. Cars have been a hobby for years and I'm very familiar with cars as I have grown up with my dad getting a new car almost every year haha. I'm here to have some great fun, meet new people, and expand my knowledge of cars even more.

I look forward to meeting everyone and attending the meetings especially this Friday! My friends from a mazda forum and from other colleges in VA told me about this club so I for sure wanted to join.

Edit to include a few pictures:

Hey, I'm Zach Gordon and I'm from Yorktown, VA, freshmen this year. Right now I have a mk4 VR6 Jetta, but my first car was a 5.0 swapped FB, then I had a 2.slow Jetta which I miss dearly, and then I blew up an n/a FC (surprise Sad ), so now I'm back in the German game. I've never done autox myself, but I've ridden a lot with my brother at NASA events and VIR in his LS2 FD, so now I'm hoping that I can actually drive some, especially the college challenge. Definitely looking forward to everything MM is doing this year and getting to know everyone!
