Soooooooo as alot of you know I was in search of a new vehicle, something with more creatures comforts. So I started looking into trucks. Mostly a Nissan Frontier, then through some guidance of good friends I figured a utility trailer is cheaper and a better idea than buying a truck. So I added in the stipulation of better MPG and fun to drive.
Sedans are out, because 7 month old + dog = no place for both.
Enter the search for a wagon. I initially thought an e39 540iT would be cool, til some research and opinions steered me away from a 90k+ 10-15yr old BMW. Big surprise.
Narrowed down my search to Legacy GT Wagons, or a Forester 2.5XT. I wanted to get back into a manual DD, so the 05 Legacy GT wagons were my only choice. Where 04-08 Forester XTs came in a manual. After consulting the wife, she preferred the looks of the Fozzie.
So while searching a few popped up and the one I found happened to be a TX/CA car that was brought into NJ back in July. Seller was "allowed by his wife" to pick up a fun DD so he snagged an E39 M5. His loss = my gain. After Dan Kastner offered his time while on spring break to take a look at this thing in NJ for me, he reported back with nothing but good things, THANKS AGAIN DAN. So this past weekend DJ was kind enough to drive me up to NJ to take a look and hopefully come back with my new car, THANKS AGAIN DJ.
Enter my new car. 2004 Subaru Forester 2.5XT 5spd in Java Black Pearl, with 90k on the clock.
Pics from the Seller: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://picasaweb.google.com/114262342721634017939/JavaBlack?authkey=Gv1sRgCNWA0vub5-eSGg">https://picasaweb.google.com/1142623427 ... 0vub5-eSGg</a><!-- m -->
Original Sticker, just had the 90k service done (Tbelt, pulleys, WP, etc etc...)

She made the 300+ mile trip without issue.
![[Image: 1838_10101009021973749_1735081979_n.jpg]](https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/1838_10101009021973749_1735081979_n.jpg)
So the car is stupid clean for 90k, and she ran like a top on the 315 mile trip home.
1st mod....added car seat base.
2nd mod... MUDFRAPS!!!!
Ordered some "Flapatax" mud flaps.
![[Image: 20130318_125038.jpg]](https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-uDv3p5Kl9rc/UUdGVr7EvzI/AAAAAAAAIdc/2HmhUo0__8k/s571/20130318_125038.jpg)

3rd mod.... GET LOWWWWWWW
Picked up a set of WRX struts and some WRX Cobb springs w/ 3/8 saggy butt spacers.
![[Image: 20130309_202924.jpg]](https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-N_7yH5NAk18/UTwJiyLTq7I/AAAAAAAAIZ8/0mveF7x0p08/s761/20130309_202924.jpg)
Should be this low....
![[Image: DSC_0493.jpg]](http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c211/krazyrunner/XT/DSC_0493.jpg)
If it is too low, I have some STi springs, courtesy of Shea I can throw on and raise the car about an inch all the way around.
4th mod...ordered some yellow Lamin-x for the fogs.
5th mod...gonna plastidip the front grill, like so.
![[Image: DSC03359-2.jpg]](http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h105/dansfotos/DSC03359-2.jpg)
6th Mod....picking up an STi catback for $50, give her a little more rumble.
7th mod... Snagging a V1 Accessport and a Cobb Intake w/ intake box. Trade the V1 in on a V2, they are worth a $200 credit so it makes getting the V2 a good deal.
8th mod... RIMMMMZZZZZ, pretty sure I'm gonna go for some Rota Tarmac 3s in 18x8.
And she looka like dis....
![[Image: forester3.jpg]](http://cornerbalance.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/forester3.jpg)
Also ordered some touch up paint and some all weather mats from the subie dealer.
AND DONEZO.

With it being only 2 months away from graduation, I was wondering if any of the current students would be giving away their mini-fridges. I gave away mine when I graduated because I no longer needed it. Now I am searching for one for my trailer. Good beer in it for you!

205/55-16 preferred. looking for tires worn evenly tire-to-tire, and there needs to be some meat left on the tread. the more aggressive the tread the better.
gearing up for rally-x this year and i've already got wheels figured out, but no tires. rally tires don't run in my wheel size and snow tires have marshmallow sidewalls that can get yanked off the bead, so they're out too. decent all-seasons will do the job.
SUBARU GUYS - if you have your stock Potenza RE92's, and want to get rid of them, i'll take 'em if they meet the above criteria.
we can exchange pick up at VIR or the next karting event unless you're in NC.

^^ Over break a snow storm caused a massive tree to fall, totaling both my volvo S60 and my step brothers golf GTI. i should be collecting around 6k from insurance and will be shopping for a new car this weekend. My price range is right around 7 or less ( i cant really go much over insurance). So if anyone got a suggestion id love to hear it. Maybe your bored and want to do some Craigslisting, anything helps! i have a little bit of training with manual but not too much, but i am definitely open to them, as id like to learn it regardless. Been most interested in getting a BMW or Subaru , but certainly not limited to those two brands. preferably a sedan, coupe, or hatchback. thanks for the help guys!

Growing up on a lake and now living by the coast, I've always told myself that I should get a boat one day. I'll have to keep waiting, but in the meantime why not dream? Anybody else into boating at all? Maybe there's a reason this topic has never been brough up here. Maybe create a "Boats That Get You Wet" thread? I'm assuming if anything, folks would be into old wooden Chris Crafts, or maybe some Donzis and Fountains. Maybe less pontoon boats.
