  Exhaust Shop near Hburg
Posted by: rherold9 - 10-24-2013, 12:13 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (66)

Just wondering if anyone knows of a decent or good shop near the burg that can do a little bit of welding and some things to fit a muffler/tip on to my exhaust. Thinking of picking up a magnaflow muffler and magnaflow tip and have them welded together. Then have my exhaust cut right before the stock muffler and have the new magnaflow muffler/tip in place of the old muffler. As simple as that.

Magnaflow muffler same size as stock exhaust and tip so just a simple weld/cut job. If anyone knows of a place who can simply do that it would be great to know. Thanks!

worked great for iRacing, other. Comes with wheel and custom stand. And MM sticker. You buy it.

Some German car with an M on it (99 M3 Coupe)
Posted by: RawrImAMonster - 10-20-2013, 08:19 PM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (72)

So I decided I wanted a daily driver that was a little more comfortable and a lot quieter than the Trans Am. I also needed something with a little more storage area. However, I also know I wouldn't be happy with something that's completely boring.

I tossed around a lot of ideas in my head for a while and those requirements eventually led me to my newest purchase, a 1999 BMW M3 Coupe with 122k miles on the clock.

To start off my first day of BMW ownership, I woke up early and hungover as hell to make the trek to the DMV. 30 minutes and a few hundred dollars later, I had my plates and registration.

Excited to test the car out, I took it down a back road close to my grandparents house. On the first hill I heard a noise that was absent all throughout the test drive and trip back form northern va. At first, I thought something had moved around in the trunk, but the noise ended up getting worse over every bump.

So I drove the car back to my grandparents house and ripped trunk apart to find the source. Turns out I had one of the common M3 problems, a torn rear shock mount. Unfortunate that it happened on the first day I owned the car, but not a big deal to fix. I've already ordered the reinforced rogue engineering replacements and hopefully they'll show up around midweek so I can get this thing back on the road.

Other than that, I also have the sloppy shifter that is common to E36 M3's and the driver side seat doesn't tilt. I'll get around to fixing these in time, but neither are that big of an issue.

Anyway, here are a few pictures. It really is an exceptionally clean car for the age.

  MM wallpaper and android lockscreen/wallpaper
Posted by: Senor_Taylor - 10-18-2013, 05:11 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (3)

Being a typical over-zealous freshmen, I wanted an MM wallpaper for my computer and lockscreen on my phone.

... so I made some.

Yeah.

Here you go.

Best Movie Car Chases for a Supercut
Posted by: G.Irish - 10-18-2013, 11:49 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (18)

I've been thinking for a long time that if you combined all of the best movie car chases into a supercut that it'd be pretty entertaining, at least while drunk. I figured I'd start picking up some of the dvd's of the more obscure stuff on ebay/Amazon and begin putting this together over the winter doldrums. Here's a preliminary list but I'm sure there are plenty of car chase scenes I haven't thought about so please post your suggestions.

All of the F&F movies
Ronin
Dirty Harry
Rush
Driven
Bullit
Who Am I
Quantum of Solace
The Spy Who Loved Me

Any Members to meet who offroad?
Posted by: Senor_Taylor - 10-18-2013, 10:12 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (9)

Hey guys, I was just wondering who the offroad people in MM are. I really would love to meet some people I could start wheeling with and could show me the ropes and maybe take me with them some time. From seeing older posts, I know they exist, I just don't know who's still active.

Summit Point • November 2-3 • NASA Fall Finale
Posted by: Jake - 10-17-2013, 02:56 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (54)

Who's in for this? This is NASA's "Fall Finale" at Summit Point. No racing, just HPDE's and Time Trial so more track time for those groups compared to usual events.

Hyperdrives happen on Saturday and for you students who want to get out on track for cheap, find $50 and drive less than an hour to hit up a great track!

I am working (driving pace/announcing) and will be driving in TTD again, with the goal of Less Tire Walls this month.

Paul and I will be going to Piccadilly's in downtown Winchester for dinner on Friday, probably around 7 or so. Anyone interested in joining?

Students -- this is a GREAT time to come out and get some rides!! You can ride in HPDE 3 or HPDE 4, so plenty of cars to hop into.

Also, Sunday around lunchtime will be our annual Lunch Laps for Cale. Cale Kastanek was an instructor/TTer whose life was sadly cut short in 2008 when he and his S2k went off-track and hit a concrete wall that had not yet been buffered with tires. In honor of #57, we do lunch laps every November and raise money for a scholarship in his name. We have raised more money each year, every year I've been a part of NASA, so let's keep it going for 2013! Minimum donation of $20 to do lunch laps on Sunday, and any car with four wheels and seatbelts for occupants is welcome.

With all that said, who's in? Click here for event info page.

Hey y'all, my name is Pierce and I am currently a AGIS senior at JMU. I first got interested in cars when I was allowed to take a gf on a date in my Dads SL65 AMG mercedes, and surely after she never stepped in the car with me again  . I was now hooked to driving his car whenever I got the chance and watched youtube videos of cars for hours (became obsessed w/ Euro cars such as ///M3's, AMG's, Audis and my favorite "Frankenstein E30 ///M3"). With that said on my 21st birthday I was fortunate enough to get the car I wanted, an Alpine White M/T 135i. After 2 years of driving her I was used to the power and decided to add a bit more mods. So I made some money working and got addicted to adding more and more power.
MODS: AFE dual cold air intake, BMW short shift kit, Berk turbo back exhaust, AR catless downpipes, Active Charge pipe, Active BOV, AMS Front mount intercooler, COBB V3 tune, APEX EC-7 wheels
I am now infatuated with turbo charged cars and hopefully one day my dream will come true to swap a nice S54 platform into a E30 and throw a ESS supercharger on her or possibly a fatty HPF turbo kit.

  Project Shaguar XFR

Just had my XFR delivered and the first thing it gets is a good bath and a quality tint job:

[Image: attachment.php?attachmentid=58244&dateline=1381610303]
Also relocated the extra //R badge to the grille from the ACC sensor where the previous owner had it:

[Image: attachment.php?attachmentid=58246&dateline=1381610303]
[Image: attachment.php?attachmentid=58247&dateline=1381610303]

Crazy how much of a night and day difference a good tint job will make. The installer was able to cover the third brake light even though it is really tough to reach which I was pretty happy about. I came back to the shop this morning to get my wife's car tinted and they were doing a photo shoot for the revamp of their website. They asked me if they could photograph my car in a lineup of other cars of theirs for the site and I said sure Smile So that is pretty cool!

Detector hardwire is going in next week, mandatory for this car.

I still think black wheels would look so good on the car but I don't want to mess with that right now. I might have posted it in the other thread but there are three carbon fiber bits from Mina Gallery I am considering adding:

CF Apron splitters
[Image: xf-front-apron.jpg]

Less sold on the CF eyelids, although it would give it a more aggressive look like the 2012+
[Image: xf-headlight-trim.jpg]

Also not sure about the CF hood vents:

Here is the whole Mina car (also has the Black Pak grill vs. my chrome)

Mina also makes a hand laid CF rear diffuser like those on the 2012+s...but I think it's a little much. Here is one on a black car with the Mina exhaust:

Curious to hear your MM's thoughts. I really want to keep this car clean and classy but you all know me...I like to add my own touches and help my vehicles stand out even more
