$200,000 Supra ?!?!?

Figured the Supra twins Dave and Ryan would appreciate this at least. That's a big frickin turbocharger, but I still can't believe it's at $200,500 last time I checked !

 Fuel Cells
Posted by: Jeff - 01-28-2005, 12:09 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (3)

Few questions...
1. Can a fuel cell be rigged to fill from the outside?
2. Can you install a guage sending unit in a cell that dosn't have one?
3. What brand is best?
4. Is a sump better or worse?

Thanks guys, I know you can come up with these answers.

Hey guys, here's some pics of my car..im thinking i am coming to the meeting for new members or whatever on the 7th, stopped by your booth at student org night.

1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. 103k miles, new base coat clear coat paint, new stripes. original wheels, new window tint.

New engine: SBC 350, + .030", Edelbrock Tubular Exhaust headers, Pocket Ported Polished Vortec Cylinder heads, Edelbrock performance RPM intake (0 - 5500). Edelbrock 4x4 cam (.442"intake/.442"exhaust). .1" dished hyperteutic pistons. Open air filter element

it needs a bigger cam, higher lift valve springs than what came on the heads, and to get rid of the pollution control crap...i did all the work myself, and theres a slight rear main seal oil leak(maybe 1qt/5 tanks of gas)..probably gonna pull the motor again(already tried to fix it once) this summer...new underhood embroidered "Monte Carlo SS" insulator (pics soon)...uhhh..that's all I can think of right now.

Stuff coming soon:
Probably a small nitrous shot (50 or so), new cam, new valve springs, new cat, new 700r4 transmission, B&M megashifter, stereo crap, interior

PS..its not bad lighting, it's just that bright!

 URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT (UPDATE)
Posted by: mpg9999 - 01-27-2005, 06:42 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (2)

Legislation to Allow Reasonable Exhaust System Modifications
To Be Heard in Committee Tomorrow, Jan. 28

Legislation (H.B. 2895) that would allow VirginiaÔÇÖs vehicle hobbyists to install and use aftermarket modified exhaust systems that meet a 95-decibel limit under a fair and predictable test standard will be considered by Subcommittee 3 of the House Transportation Committee tomorrow, Jan. 28 at 7:00 a.m.

We Urge You to Contact Subcommittee Members (List Attached) Immediately

to Support H.B. 2895

┬À H.B. 2895 would remove subjective provisions in the law and force compliance with an objectively measured standard. Under the standard, exhaust noise could not exceed a sound reading of 95-decibels under a fair and predictable test (Society of Automotive Engineers J1169 - May 1998).

┬À H.B. 2895 would benefit consumers, the aftermarket industry and police officers who are charged with enforcing the law.

┬À H.B. 2895 would remedy the enforcement policy currently used by police officers in which nearly all exhaust systems not of a type installed as standard factory equipment are considered illegal - even where noise levels are not excessive or unusual. This policy leaves enthusiasts, exhaust system manufacturers and dealers without recourse.

┬À H.B. 2895 recognizes that aftermarket exhaust systems are designed to make vehicles run more efficiently without increasing emissions.

┬À H.B. 2895 recognizes that aftermarket exhaust systems offer increased durability and performance, which can make a vehicle safer by improving its ability to merge, pass, travel uphill, etc.

┬ÀH.B. 2895 challenges the erroneous assumption that enthusiasts who equip their vehicles with modified exhaust systems are involved in illegal street racing.

DONÔÇÖT DELAY! Please contact members of the Virginia House Transportation Committee ÔÇô Subcommittee 3 immediately by phone or e-mail to request their support of this bill.

I've been doing this a few months... basically it counts the number of times you hit a key or click your mouse, uploads the numbers and keeps fancy-shmancy track of it. The Honda-Tech team sort of died so I created a JMU one: http://whatpulse.org/stats/teams/5233/

The program doesn't eat up any system resources and runs in the toolbar. Join! Wooo! Tell your CS nerd friends! They'll love it! Woooo! Nerds like numbers! Woooo!

What not to do to a Turbo II

I totalled my car...

just kidding! Thanks SO MUCH to scotty and hunter for talking me through my car problems last night.

Before I start... here's a timeline

1. Bought car
2. Car felt strained at high rpms (could be clogged cat or fuel cut)
3. bought fuel cut defencer (FCD) (car felt a little better) - thought it was fixed
4. bought straight through exhaust (felt a little better)
5. limited boost so it wouldn't creep
6. car felt slow and still strained at high rpms
7. put car on dyno to achieve a whopping 14:1 A/F ratio (SUPER LEAN)

So, there I was trying to figure out why the hell a more or less stock tii was getting such a bad A/F ratio.

After a month of diagnostics from rx7club and a long dinner of discussion with scotty and hunter, I was going to check the FCD and the readings off of the pressure sensor that it hooks into. It was FREEZING this morning so I decided to just yank the FCD out and see what happened.

Immediately, A/F ratios read richer on my o2 readout. I thought, "uh oh, I think I might have found it." Finally, the car was warm and I did a pull from 2500 rpms. BAM! super torquey! PULLED SUPER STRONG!! I haven't boosted this car for a long time, but gawtdayum that car felt faster than I remember it! o2 readings were at 13.0 but I didn't get to look at o2 readout which is more important (not extrapolated) because I got to work REAL fast.

Either way, the car feels like a new machine. I'm still going to check the readings from the pressure sensor and make sure that it's giving proper readings.

If I can confirm readings from my o2 and that they're going significantly higher than before, I probly won't dyno it, but if my results are not 100%, it's time for me to shell out another $120 for use of a wideband.

PS... it felt super fast peaking at only 8psi. (stock is around 9 and it hits 9 much faster than creeping up there)

 Music for Car Show

What kind of music are you guys intersted in listening to for the car show?
I ask because I have a friend who spins at a restaurant in DC (Penang), who spins mostly EDM(Electronic Dance Music) such as house/progressive/trance. However, if you guys want hip hop he says he has a friend who is a great dj that spins it. So, what do you guys wanna hear?
