funny, I kinda swore off SCC and all the "tuner" magazine a couple years ago when I picked up GRM. I happened to find one at Wal-mart the other day though, and I was bored, and was surprised with how much actual meat and detail was in there. There were also updates on several race series other than D1, which also impressed me. Too bad I don't rmember which magazine it actually was, I might almost recommend it to people. GRM still is best though.

Thanks for all the support guys! Good luck on your sale RJ, I bumped the thread Evan made on NASIOC for you 8)
Goodspeed Wrote:No I haven't tried. I don't have the time or energy to put together a porfolio for my car... and to be quite frank, the benefits I would get out of it are basically non-existent... other than to say you had your car in a magazine. I'm pretty sure, after speaking to someone who worked in the tuner magazine industry, that you don't even get paid to be featured in most magazines. Hell, even sponsors usually don't even pay you, they just give you discounted / free parts, which I don't need anyway.CaptainHenreh Wrote:Speaking of, Goodspeed, when are you buying a car? But, it would be cool to see your car on the cover of a magazine.

Yeah, I mean if you sign a contract with a sponsor, you usually commit to showing your car in a certain number of shows per year or attend a certain number of races a year. I don't understand how you don't get paid for advertising a company's product on a badass car.

Hehe, someone on the Subaru forums offered to trade me a "numbers matching" 1966 Hemi Satellite. What an ugly ass car. A collectible ugly ass car, but a grandpa mobile nonetheless.

It's not fully restored, that's the thing. I'm not going to trade my car for a busted pile, numbers matching or not. I'm not really a purist in that sense. If someone wanted to trade me a Hemi 'Cuda or a fastback Mustang with no numbers matching, fully restored with aftermarket parts I'd be fine with that, but I don't want to trade a perfectly tuned, well built car for a piece of shit that's going to sit in a parking space waiting to be fixed someday. haha
I call it grandpamobile only to give it some kind of respect. Personally, I think the car is fucking ugly and would require a lot of aftermarket custom body modification to make it something I'd feel like I could pimp hard.

appreciation vs. depreciation - but anyway, Gangsta is the G word you're looking for for that car I think.

I can appreciate appreciation (lol), but I don't look at a car as an investment. A car that you would keep as an investment would be one that you don't drive hard, or at all. I like driving the balls out of my cars, and I have plenty of investments elsewhere. Realistically, a car to me is like going to the bar. You know you're throwing money down the drain, but it gives you joy over and over.
