Hyperfest 2015 @ VIR May 2

I figured I would get this started because 1) I'm bored at work 2) It's at VIR (instead of Summit Point) and 3) It's a different weekend.

This year it will be May 2nd at VIR

I have heard (through FB) that NASA has booked all of the lodge/villa/garage rooms already. I reserved a camping spot for me and a few buddies today. We got a spot in the North Paddock w/ water/electricity as we are bringing a tow behind camper this year to stay Friday and Saturday night.

Who is going? Should be a much different crowd down at VIR (I'm hoping).

Considering Danville unemployment is like 9% and Martinsville is over 11% I don't think anyone in the area can afford blow. People are most likely gonna be partying it up with shake & bake and 'shine made in an old radiator out of fermented apple peels.

so, the last few times i went to VIR i found a pretty kickass old school BBQ place about 20 mins away in NC....Briggs Bar-B-Que

i found much of the food outside the track pretty lacking but this place is freaking delicious and pretty cheap. take rt. 62S from VIR and its at the end of the road where it tees off onto rt. 86, just a little brick building opposite the Citgo Gas Station usually with a bunch of pickups parked outside :wink: (the trademark of all quality bbq joints)

the nice thing about 62 is that the speed limit is mostly 55mph once you get out of Milton right there outside the track, but there's almost nothing out there once you go further, so i usually just cruise at 65-70 and the drive goes by nice and quick. its also the road where i hit my first and only turkey.

man you guys must have never stayed in town. back before they built hotels closer to the track and everybody had to stay in town the 'local' scene was BAD on friday and saturday nights. kaan matt and rj remember, pretty funny actually. I wouldnt expect much of a different crowd from summit.

oh wow, I used to stay over there all the time, wish I had known about it then. it was actually a shorter drive to the track than from the hotels in downtown danville

Well that weekend is the start of finals. That sucks. Probably won't be going..

+1 with the other students that can't go now, which is really a shame because they are bringing back the amature drifting for hyperfest and it's only $180 (which would be exciting if I could go, because 1. drifting at summit hyperfest before it wen't comp only was $250 IIRC, and 2. because there's never non-comp drift events at VIR anymore)

Danville proper... those nights were "interesting." at least we knew we could never get in trouble because there was something going on WAY worse then headgaskets in a parking lot. or beer drinking in the parking lot... or scaring the McDs girls working late.

COB Finals are actually ON Saturday, and my finals week starts that Thursday.
