gas mileage, under 15k (hard to find a lowish mileage wrx for less than 15)... insurance would have been much higher with a wrx as well.

rob was being sarcastic. he picked one of jack's few points for picking a car (this one just happened to be false) and then ignored the others, which were all very valid for a 2.5rs over wrx purchase, in order to make his point.

I just now saw this Jack, congrats on the purchase and welcome to the Suby family =D I'm also really surprised your insurance is that much... I'm paying 200 less per year with my WRX. Geico quoted me retarded high quotes when I was looking at other new cars though, so screw them.

As far as gas mileage goes with a turbo car, it's all about how heavy your foot is. I romp on my car and the very very worst I'm seeing is 22mpg. Typical is 24.5mpg with highway approaching 28.

Ok, so here's a status update. Carmax refuses to fix the car even though I drove it with a tech and he felt the clutch problem. I spoke to Subaru of America AND Subaru's midwests service director (read: 2 hours on the phone yelling) and they both said that it would be fixed by subaru under powertrain warranty. Carmax ships car to subaru. Subaru denies any problem. Carmax receives car again and tells me to take it.

Here I am... with a loan on my record for 10k now trying to apply for a new loan to replace the current one with one year of perfect credit history on record. Why is this so hard?

SOOOOOO... I'm returning the car to carmax and I'm going to scold the store manager. I found this car on NASIOC and going to test drive it today. Waiting on decision from eloan.. and trying to figure out how the hell i'm going to get back from carmax that's in the middle of nowhere without a car.

phew...

Seriously, Jack I live pretty close to that carmax (i'm in herndon). Where and when do you need a ride to. I might be able to help.

Thanks for the offer Justin, but I moved to Chicago in August. If you could give me a ride to Schaumburg, that'd be great! Smile

So, dont you come out ahead by waiting for the clutch to go out, and fixing it if and when that happens? That makes a lot more sense unless you're planning on ditching the car for a lot more than you paid for it.

i don't quite understand what you're saying... the clutch chatters. I'd have it replaced now if it was mine... but I just bought it from a "reputable" dealer and wouldn't expect it in this condition.

So, the way i read this..you're looking to sell this problem car, to buy another car? This almost always involves losing money. It no longer matters whether the dealer is reputable or not..you know better for next time, seems like you lose less money by waiting for the clutch to go completely out, replace it at that time for less money than you lose by swapping cars

it's under carmax warranty for returning. He's not satisfied, therefore he can get all of his money back within 5 days of purchase. He doesn't need to sell the car, just take it back for a refund.

i hope you kept your reciept jack!
