How many25+ year old hondas and toyotas do you see on the road in this country and others?

What does that have to do with today? Sure, there are a lot of collectible cars from the big three from pretty much every decade before 1980 but that is not helping them at all today where both Ford and GM lost 100's of millions of dollars last year ($1.6 billion for Ford IIRC).

Well I'm not even talking about collectible cars - I'm just talking about cars that have lasted decades. You're hard pressed to even FIND an import before 1985 or so - much less one in good condition. You can go down the street anywhere and in 5 minutes see a lot of cars older than that, that are still going just fine.

You'd be hard pressed to find ANY car older than 1985 by walking down the street. Doesnt matter import or domestic, most 20 year old cars have been wrecked, junked, etc and are just not on the road.

well, I just walked outside for about 15 seconds and just scanned the parking lot, all the cars were <15 years old, however there were 2 1985ish Plymouth K-cars of some sort out there...no old imports

Not to mention there's not really a market for restoring the older hondas/toyotas. The cars were practical and economic for their time, but for the cost of restoring them you mind as well get an updated version that is better. IMO there's very few newer domestic cars that have the appeal of their older bretheren. Give me a classic stang anyday over the new ones (although this latest model is rather nice).

The three mutual funds only invest in the auto sector. One focuses/invests solely in Jap cars, the second solely US cars,
with the lastly investing only in German cars (VW/AUDI, BMW, MB). Which would you invest your hard earned dough in?

I can look out side my parking lot and I dont see any cars older than 8 years old, and 90% of them are imports.

I don't see what the point of this would be. To denigrate American cars? If you don't like them, fine. But there's no point in dragging this out to bash what the big 3 are doing. There are fans of just about every major brand on here, and I don't think there's anything to be gained from trashing anyone's brand on here for no reason.

The whole point of this community is that we all enjoy cars and hopefully through this mutual enjoyment we can all come to appreciate the good things the automotive world offers rather than have a penis swinging contest over who's brand(s) is better. There is nothing to be gained from pissing on what other people like.

I do see much if any Import hate here. I didn't even begin to challenge the long held belief that imports are better. I outta raise some shit next time someone posts a "I want X import car" thread. I bet I would get a total of 0 supporters. Domestic hate is alive in this club. I think its poor judgement to hate on anyone's brand...not a good call.

It's called an opinion and I argued facts. If I editorialized, it was because I didn't think anyone actually gave a shit. Next time, I'll prepare a proper thesis. Last I checked, this is a car club forum where everyone spouts off about anything and everything and nothing was taken personnally.
