sorry if this is going to seem extremely stereotypical, but whats the atmosphere like... is it like a bunch of motorheads talking about how much hp they can get out of whatever engine... i can talk stats and mech but my knowledge is limited... most importantly I can drive... any of you guys got any talent????

This one dude has over 100 grand under the hood of his S2000. Something about a T-66 turbo, Nawz and a motec system exhaust.

rj's an instructor at summit point raceway, track in wv near jmu. He always quotes and makes fun of F&F...

i wish the US had more exposure to european brands like citroen, peugot, and Alfa Romeo. More importantly the US needs more exposure to rally racing, my favorite to watch.

MM does a lot of race related events with more focus on driving skills than car performance. Hell, a lot of us don't own REALLY powerful cars, just mildly powerful, but light, with handling to boot. We do a lot of carting, which i havn't been able to participate in for financial purposes, but as soon as my paychecks start coming in i'll be involved with those

i'm going to assume Dave and chad moved up to group two with me this past VIR visit.... so thats 3 drivers with 3 or less group one ventures moved to group two... in the stricter NASA system ;-)... Brain is in group 3, Mike moved up to group two in one weekend.... RJ and Evan have the balls and talent to instruct in HPDEs... and Gerald is comp licensed! the more people we get out on track... it seems the more talent this club shows it has.

euro cars = electrical shit storm in 5 years ;-) and i loved all my euro cars!

If you wanted to have some sort of discussion about the supposed poor quality of american cars... then at least do it in an intelligent manner without insulting the group.

1. Posting a poorly spelled attack on all non-European cars is probably not the best way to get to know the folks who frequent this forum.

2. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has them.

My thoughts on this topic go beyond just this post, to the streak of blatantly mean-spirited posts that have made their way onto these boards in the past month or so. For some people, this forum is the first impression that they get of MM... so, guys, is this what we really want them to see?

MM has grown significantly in the years since its formation, and in doing so, has also increased in diversity. We need to make sure that we don't lose sight of the main goals of this club. There has always been a certain amount of trash talking back and forth, your-moms and lots of people getting "owned." However, let's keep it to the light-hearted banter that we're all used to.

I agree with Mike, if all you're going to do is try to start arguments, that's not what we're looking for.

Can't we all just get along?!? :wink:

not really sure how American 60's muscle cars are indicative of automotive quality and designs outside of europe, but then maybe im just slow. honestly, i don't know why anyone would come to this forum spouting ridiculous stuff like this, but i will still try to offer as friendly a hello as i can. welcome, and i hope you come join our shenanigans at some point this fall. i personally like alfa romeos a lot, they are gorgeous cars with a sporting flair. my friends dad used to have a 164L, i loved that car and was really upset when he sold it a few years ago. that being said.....

why you would bash non-european built cars for their quality is beyond me, when your chosen ride is Italian! they make some awesome cars, but outside of the ferrari/lambo/pagani circle....reliability/quality is a little on the low side. don't think so? on the automotive show "top gear" i believe they did a test on the AR 166(?) sedan. they loved the driving experience, but noted the 166's are selling horribly due to the resale value that plummets astronomically. sure, a crappy dealer network is to blame here too, but most cars have horrible resale values due to quality.
(daihatsu, kia, VW, etc)

my family owns 2 audi A4's. they are great cars to drive, and construction is solid. however, audis are NOTORIOUS for nagging electronic issues, most notably coil packs. the wonderful 5 link front suspension also needs the ball joints replaced around 80k miles due to overly thin grease, and the catalytic converter has been known to totally shear off of its flange on the 1.8T models. there has been news that the newer S4's cannot engage reverse in manual transmission'ed cars because the shift linkage was poorly designed.

E46 M3's have gained a reputation for grenading motors for no particular reason other than that they are overstressed from a power output standpoint.

if you're going to argue that euros are superior drivers' cars to some american or japanese models, then i suggest doing some serious research....enough said.

i don't mean to throw gas on the fire, and incite more arguments. i just want to sort of help set the record straight with what knowledge i have. and if i'm wrong, point it out and provide proof as to why, and i will fully admit i'm wrong.

Is it too late to bash European manufacturing because I don't think it is comparable to what we do in this country.
