When we say 'track day' we're usually referring to a road course. If I meant drag I'd say drag or strip or something like that.

Whether it is meant to be funny or not...I'm not amused at this time in the day.
Consistant 13.6's to 13.7's at 109 to 111 are not close to a 14 second timeslip.
110 mph's in the quarter mile usually goes behind a 12.2 - 12.5 e.t. in a car with good traction.
We'll test this theory out this season as I plan on trapping closer to 120 mph and will be running on a set of mickey thompson's for at least the second half.
And yes...that does put me out ahead of the pack. I know for a fact that Chris Lambert dominated UVA in his GSX last time Tech and UVA went to the strip together. Chris and I's set ups are basically identical, except that he is awd.

I'll keep that in mind G. But 90% of this MM club would cry like little girls if asked to go to the DRAG STRIP. What makes you think UVA want to go 'on track.'

What I had in mind was more of a thing where people from the colleges can get out at a track day that was all us rather than try to slip into a day with NASA or something. Really, competition at this kind of event would be a bad idea anyway because someone would be liable to let their ego cause an accident.
For a competitive thing it'd have to be an autox, drag day, or karting day.

I was actually talking to Scott about this at VIR. Let's just whatever track/strip/road course is convenient for all parties. So what that MM might get owned at the strip, but honestly, with Travis, Chapin's z32tt, Chad's Mustang, Maeng's STI we'd fair fine. If we go to the strip, maybe next time time CCVT or CAV will do a road course.

I have talked to steve (CCVT vise pres) about a karting day. I believe they mentioned it at the last meeting, and he has been looking into it.

CCVT got's drag folks and track folks. We tend to drag mostly just because it is dirt cheap compared to course. Also, there is a new strip opening in radford (1/8) and this strip is 15-20 minutes from Tech.
There are many auto-X'ers and also track junkies. As for me, I wish there was a dirtrack around lol redneck

I guess.....
The idea of a club trip to the drag strip has been brought up many times but in the past hasnt generated significant interest. The closest is what, an 1/8th mile strip in waynesboro? There's nothing stopping Travis (or anyone else!) from bringing up the idea at a meating and setting a date for a club event to go out and break axles and blow motors.
RJ - who went to the dragstrip once last year and sucked ass but would go back any time as long as it was with MM and Maeng brought the grill and big blue, and Kaan brought the bullhorn

honestly i feel the same. if it was a club event with a bunch of homies going, i'd go too. i just don't see the fun of going by myself with my slow ass car. it would be much more fun to see other people run and hang out/bench race
The strip is not open. But when it does and when I'm ready we can set a date at wayneboro. A friday night should be a lot of fun and introduce those that havn't been to the strip to the wonders of going straight.
