We only go to the store every 4-6 weeks. Just buy like 8 cans of tomatoes and 8 pounds of pasta and you've got enough for a month at two days a week. You can throw in whatever protein you have in the freezer and/or olives, clams, etc from the pantry to mix and match. Even if you don't have anything else, you have a basic tomato sauce for weeks on end.
My pantry feels bare if I don't have 10 pounds of pasta, 10 cans of tomatoes, 8 cans of olives and 4 cans of clams in there.
