Re: So need some advice - Kaan - 09-16-2009 trust me i know all about the red/black, there is one in my garage. Re: So need some advice - HAULN-SS - 09-16-2009 .RJ Wrote:Even a 60hp bike is going to be total sensory overload for the first few weeks. Double that is asking for trouble, for most, IMO. Its really easy to get carried away and get yourself into a situation that triggers all the common survival reactions. Not saying you cant end up in a ditch on an SV either.... 600's really have 120hp these days? jeebus. I think my 750 only has somewhere in the 130's.. But if you go check out the RR down in Richmond lemme know I'd like to tag along. Re: So need some advice - rezarxt - 09-16-2009 Im emailing the guy about the 2001 F4i. Thank you whoever posted that. That looks about perfect for me. Re: So need some advice - rezarxt - 09-16-2009 Damn just talked to the guy and it sold earlier this week.... Ill keep looking around though for something like that. Re: So need some advice - Mike - 09-16-2009 before getting dead set on buying something, go sit on many. every bike fits every person differently. Re: So need some advice - flintster55 - 09-16-2009 +1 big time. You can sit on my RR and david's GS500 back to back and that alone might make you want something less sporty because his is so much more comfortable Re: So need some advice - Kaan - 09-17-2009 i would go to the biggest local shop you have that sells used bikes... and jump on all of them. and dont be affraid to check out a bike posted for sale just to sit on it.... sucks for the seller, but with the prices they are asking these days, they can suffer through it ![]() you dont want a super agressive riding position to hamper your learning. Re: So need some advice - Sijray21 - 09-17-2009 if you're going to open your self up to the $5-$6k range i would see if you can find an '07 600rr there (it's a significantly better motorcycle than the '06 - and worth it IMO) $5k for an '06 600rr isn't that bad of a deal if in good condition starting off on a 600rr isn't usually recommended, but if you can keep your head out of your ass you'll be fine. it can get you into a tough situation to get out of pretty quickly with too much throttle (which is pretty easy to do). that being said, i started on a GS500e (32hp naked standard) and moved onto an '03RR 7 months and 2k miles later. i would recommend that route, but do what you want. my crash history: hit a dog at about 15 mph after 3 years and 12k miles of riding and low-sided at the race track at 50mph this past June with the current bike. thankfully no big injuries or expensive repairs (thanks Progressive) Re: So need some advice - REED - 09-17-2009 just an FYI - champion motorsports in.......sterling, I think, they are going out of business and are clearing out their inventory. - might be worth a look Re: So need some advice - rezarxt - 09-17-2009 Okay now that I narrowed down the type of bike I was looking for thanks to your guys suggestions I found another possibility in the local newspaper (local to my home). Going to have my dad check out a 2002 CBR600F4i thats near my house in MD to see what he thinks. Its about 10 mins away. 16k miles couple modifications new paint (not sure what that means...) Asking 4k obo ![]() The paint is okay. I dont know if I like the letters but if my dad can talk him down and it checks out I can live with them. I def want to know WHY it was repainted though. Re: So need some advice - Mike - 09-17-2009 because it was down. that's the reason for 98% of repaints. stay away... he's asking too much too. Re: So need some advice - .RJ - 09-17-2009 New paint means it was crashed and now they want you to pay for the $$ they put in. If it was crashed enough to need new fairings and paint (i.e. not a driveway tip over) then its possible there is more damage underneath the fairings. $4k is too much for that bike however if you find an early F4i that is in good shape with known history (i.e. original owner, no jackasses) then it would be a fair deal - they hold their value pretty well. Another thing to consider is the seats - 01-03 (i think) had the split seat and 04+ had the 'banana' seat. The latter is going to be more comfortable and the price difference should be pretty small. Re: So need some advice - .RJ - 09-17-2009 Oh and red/white/gold = WIN ![]()
Re: So need some advice - Apoc - 09-17-2009 I remember the 9 months when RJ had a normal, nice looking street bike. Those were the days. Re: So need some advice - rezarxt - 09-17-2009 Yeah theres a nice red/white 02 600F4i in Frederick, MD with 9k miles but he doesnt want to budge off his price of $4200. I think I can do better than that. Re: So need some advice - .RJ - 09-17-2009 Apoc Wrote:I remember the 9 months when RJ had a normal, nice looking street bike. Those were the days. Was that the 9 months you rode your SV since you bought it? Re: So need some advice - REED - 09-18-2009 this seems a better deal at $3.8K 01 F4i 28K http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/mcy/1379207168.html |
