I don't think its a good idea to go on a 120 mile group ride with less than an hour or two of riding time and no professional instruction. Think back to when we were all learning to drive. None of us went out driving on group cruises after driving a car for one or two hours with only a permit. A bike requires a lot more concentration, motor skills, and awareness to operate safely.
I don't wanna be a hater but if it was one of the younger guys I think people would be saying he shouldn't come out yet. Let's do things right here.

anyway, got my permit, registered, and attending MSF at the expensive place in manasshole June 16-18.

My family always beleives in throwing people to the fire. when i got my license, i was instantly to drive my aunt back to Nashville TN (ok ok a week or so later)....
when i got my first bike my dad dragged me out on one of the more dangerous rides ... from one end of the GW parkway to the other... and back... since we lived in Mt. Vernon at the time it was the easiest "ride" to get to... slabs of concrete... the old town section... the dc section... thats not a fun first ride... but you'll find out if its cut out for you.

Someone on HT made an excellent analogy about riding (paraphrasing), 'Riding bikes is more like flying a plane than driving a car. Riding a sportbike is like flying a fighter jet.'
To take it one step further, I've heard more than once on fighter pilot documentaries and the like that a pilot's IQ drops 10 points when he steps in the cockpit. This is because of the fact that you have to be constantly paying attention to (and processing) a lot more things when riding.
So yeah, riding makes you stupid. This is especially unfortunate for those who don't have much IQ to begin with...
