Abbreviated Route
-Evergreen Mills West to Leesburg
-7 West
-9 North thru Charles Town
-480 East to Sheperdstown
-230 South
-340 East thru Harpers Ferry
-Points of Rocks Rd East
-28 East to Whites Ferry
-Jump the river Dukes of Hazzard style

Pace
Speed Limit +10 but you're welcome to ride ahead. No stunting please.

Duration
About 130 miles round trip from meeting place. Add your distance to meet up for your total. Math is fun! We can shorten if that's too long for the non-Corbin folks. If we leave on time and stop for lunch we should be back to meeting place by 3pm at the very latest.

Meet Up Details
10:30am - My house if you know where I live. Those that show will be rewarded with getting to sign as a witness to my Will and a tour of the house.

11:00am - Exxon at Centergate Dr & Loudoun County Pky (20148) right by VA-267 (Greenway). This is the "hostage situation" gas station where the SWAT sniper took out the bad guy.
Map -->http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=...69773&om=1

Supplies
Cash or credit for lunch in Sheperdstown. $5 cash for the Ferry across the Potomac. Anyone have a video camera they can bring? It's about time I make use of the Sportbikecam for one of these but my camera is in the racecar at this moment.

I'm interested, but I'd only have my permit so I have no way of getting out there (unless someone came to get me or GASP if gerald rode), and I'm not entirely sure I'm ready for a ride of that length. Push it back a week or two Smile

For a new rider it would be hell. And for someone who just bought a bike, with no MSF or experience, I'd recommend against coming out with a group.

Did you get a bike?

that route isnt through congested areas like DC, Arlington, holiday traffic filled, mall traffic filled roads, etc. its just route 7 west, which he has driven in his car a million times going to summit.

long rides, cruise miles, with some stops, little towns, etc is exactly what i think someone that has never riden needs. now, getting from his house to the meeting spot, even with G might be more stressful than the ride... 150 miles is a short trip... a longer ride would be to ride to JMU (on 81... good luck) and back as a squid. there wont be many big trucks, as long as the rest of you dont asshat around, if someone will ride with him... he'll do fine.

if he can get to the meeting spot, the ride is going to be cake.

What about the fatigue? Keeping up with a group where everyone has a year of riding experience? Its a bad situation all around for someone who hasnt even ridden the bike fast enough to get out of first gear, has no rider training (MSF) and on a bunch of unfamiliar roads.

My $.02.

He has to get out there. He has to squid it up a bit. Its not like he lives in the best area to go for an evening ride when you are a squid... he will get tired, but if she shows up the pack needs to know that... and i'd hope one of you donkeys would lay back with him... help him signal the group... and take a break if he needs it. if you guys want to roll out , then by all means post up "no squids allowed" Tongue and set up a squid group ride, because they need to learn that part too.

and yes i did pick up the bike, 1994 YZF 600R, blue... and yes i got caught in the rain last night. Smile

Come on out, Kaan. It won't be the same without somebody of DiSalvo stature at stoplights. We promise we won't stop unless it's absolutely necessary Wink
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

I did my first "ride" with a month of experience and 4 years after I took the MSF. I think it can be done but he has to know to not keep up at all costs if he falls behind. I also don't have a problem running sweep to keep him from getting lost. Either way....

Someone reply to the fucking HT thread!

Assuming things go well this weekend I'll have my M Class next week so Mikey will have plenty of opportunities to go out on rides and get used to his bike.

Can't be +1 to ride with him this weekend if you're not going to be around spanky.

exactly, riding at your own capability is key. people tend to keep up for the sake of keeping up and forgetting the level of riding they are actually capable of.

oh yeah - i'm helping a good friend with some minor maintenance on his Mazda6 (brake pads/oil change), but i can ride after that (looks like you guys will be done though)

The + 1 was in response to Jayray's comment about Mikey getting his permit and being willing to ride with him which I don't think was specific to this weekend's planned ride, but a general statement.

Yes I've done some quick jaunts from one location to another in order to meet up with licensed riders, but I'd never knowingly ride with someone who was riding illegally.

lol mike... i've riden before, i can one leg whatever i feel comfortable seating. i dont need big ol' boots!

btw, you heard it here first... i trust mike to decide if he feels comfortable going on the ride. If he has too many nerves, isnt comfortable on it yet, etc... I'll still give him the little respect i do now...

i'm just saying i think the squid needs to get some saddle sores.
