Posted by: Andy - 04-04-2005, 04:40 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (13)

Got this idea from Maeng a while back. Went out and bought some skate board grip tape for my pedals. I have enough left for 4-5 cars. If you anyone wants some, i'll bring it to 'Faster' wednesday

 Today only, internships w/ AOL
Posted by: Mike - 04-04-2005, 10:56 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (22)

Tomorrow the positions go to HR, but today I can drop names. The positions will be in the following: Data Warehousing QA (my job), Member Management, and Account Core Services. CS majors only please. I can give a brief job description of my job, but the other groups I have no clue.

Send resumes/cover letters/etc: mike@iammike.org

Jack can vouch that AOL is a good place to intern.

Is low rpms + high load bad for an engine?
Posted by: JackoliciousLegs - 04-04-2005, 02:18 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (45)

Yes or No?

Just debating on cold startup whether I should allow a couple extra RPMs to get the car moving... or I should push the gas pedal harder at lower RPMs....

Then maybe you wont be dumb like me. I left the windows and sunroof open on my bimmer the other day after a bike ride because I was being lazy. It then thunderstormed. All. ffing. Night. I didnt have a chance to pull up the carpet and clean underneath it until this afternoon.......

Luckily, E36 carpet has about 1" of foam underneath it. Foam also does a fantastic job of retaining water, which made this job so much fun. I got *most* of the water out of the carpet sponge, sprayed a bunch of febreeze under/on the carpet and I'm hoping for the best. I soaked 6 huge towells and about 20 small ones.

That said, the interior of the E36 is one of the most poorly excecuted pieces of automotive engineering of the 20th century. The way the panels are fit together and fastened rivals something that was built by Chrysler (sorry Jeff). I'm never taking another E36 interior apart unless its to gut one for a cage and rip the ffing panels clear off their goddamn screws in a rage of anger. I oughtta sell this shit box and buy an E30 (shut up evan).

The upside of today's project - I drove to NC after the F1 race and picked up a newer pair of front seats (luxo-plush crap out of a 328is) and passenger door panel that doesnt look like shit. The drivers seat is out of whack though :hammer: I'm going to try and fix it... the guy I bought it from runs a small junkyard of sorts and gave me an idea to try, otherwise he said he's got another seat that isnt busted.

Anyways if someone could bring a back by Ashby, I'd appreciate it

 MM Golf Day
Posted by: Nick325is - 04-03-2005, 01:58 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (19)

Based on several peoples interest in swinging golf clubs on the drive on saturday perhaps we should have an MM golf day at Packsaddle.
Anyone think they would be up for this?

 brake questions.
Posted by: lillitnn92 - 04-03-2005, 12:44 PM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (24)

since i'm getting interested in doing some auto x, i thought i'd find out a bit more on my brake options. now i know many things that we can do that i have learned from RPS(ranger power sports). things like swapping up to 10 inch drums from 9", swapping whole rear to get 8.8" rear and to get rear discs. which is proabaly the best route, but also more involved and money. i do have slotted and/or drilled front rotor options as well. i'm not sure of any caliper upgrades other than OEM replacement. i did find OEM stuff priced on the higher side which seemed to be of better quality. one thing in particular was calipers with metal or phenolic pistons. in the "better brake" world, is there a preference?
