rode out 33w a bit.
Posted by: lillitnn92 - 04-11-2005, 10:17 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (5)

it's been a long time since i've played with the G-Tech...< the original. so i know it's not perfect, but it's close and even when i do some of those online calculations it comes really close to what the G-Tech told me. but this was all for fun anyway. only a run down a real quarter mile will give me real numbers.

but anyway. two runs doing HP gave me 143 and 139 results. which are supposed to be at the wheels. considering stock is 145 at the flywheel, that's a good increase even if it is off a little. to almost match stock flywheel is great in my book.

1/4 times gave me 16.76 and 16.80.

side note. this was done on a full tank of gas i just got before i went out there. and the usual tire spin.

so you can laugh now. Smile

My new ride....Im back on the bandwagon!

Just picked up a '92 240sx this evening.

Hopefully this one will turn out better than the 240 pile of ass that I had a couple years ago!

Its a nice car, the owner kept it in good shape. The price was damn good for what these cars are going for now. It does have a couple little quirks typical of any 13 year old car but nothing too bad. Ultimately its hard to beat the fun/practicality/cost ratio of a 240sx.

The car for now will just be my daily driver, saving me from putting 90 miles a day on the WRX, and saving me from paying for premium gas.

Although I can already tell Im going to want to track it!

How ignorant your car knowledge once was/ maybe is?
Posted by: Andy - 04-11-2005, 05:12 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (25)

1) What was the most retarded idea you ever had for modding a car?
2) What was the dumbest/most dangerous thing you ever did while wrenching/driving a car?

I'll start.

When I was in HS, my buddies and I actually thought we could put a Porsche boxer engine into a friend's Jetta. We even went to Autothority and asked about purchasing "materials" to perform the swap.

There's actually a tie for dumbest thing tooling with a car.

1) I was fixing my girlfriends old celica. The slide bushings in the caliper was stuck but I didn't realize it. Literally jammed the calipers back over the new brake pads. Test drove around my neighborhood. Smelled a little burning, but thought nothing of it. By the time I got back to the house, the combination of glowing rotors + caliper grease and wd-40 had created a small fire on both front wheels.

2) Working on my maxima's brakes. I was cleaning up the caliper pins holes. I was so busy lining up the brake cleaner nozzle with the hole that I didn't see that the nossle hole was pointed right at my eye. A spray later I was running into the house, crying uncontrollably as I jump into the shower with all my clothes on, trying to get the cleaner out of my blood shot eye.

There you have it.

questions on being a paid member
Posted by: lillitnn92 - 04-11-2005, 03:28 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (10)

just wondering.

if i was to become a paid member. are there requirements? i know with some car clubs you have to meet certain things to become a member and to remain one. now from what i've read it dosen't seem like there are anything. reason i ask is. i can't be for sure that i'll be able to make that many trips to events and such. i don't want to become a paid member, then have everyone wonder why i joined if i don't come out to anything. i'm not saying i will do that, just saying i won't make that many events most likely. but then again, who knows.

i do want to get out and try my hand at some events, but i have to get some things done before i feel i can participate. first is find a JOB! other one is getting some minor things done to the truck that i feel would greatly assist me in auto x.

anyway, i'm ready to send in some money to join if you want an aging divorced male in a ford ranger Smile. so who ever is responsible, PM me and let me know where/who to send the cash. i have a paypal account or can meet somewhere.

I have gone to both prior events and it's a good time. Lots of different cars (showcars, racecars, daily drivers, whatever). It's basically just a meet, but with a donation.

Plus I won 3 dyno pulls last year in the raffle Smile

RJ won like $200 worth of stuff last year on like $10 worth of raffle tickets IIRC.

So come out, hang out with some enthusiasts for a few hours and donate some money to a good cause. I know most of you will be elsewhere, but for those of you in NOVA who are too lazy to go south, here you go Smile

(sorry if you see this on multiple forums)

Thanks,
john

I did a little write up on brake bias and one of the common se-r brake upgrades. If your bored check it out, its got some good general info and not just car specific stuff. http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=111647

Lowes Shirlington 7 - 7:20PM for Dust to Glory
Carpool in Arlington afterwards ~9:15PM

Maybe happy hour in the Arlington area before heading over to Lowes Shirlington.

Aight Ryan's back in NoVA for the week so let's plan on heading out one night for some fun. After talking to a couple of people who feel like dickpuncing .RJ it looks like Tuesday night is the night to do it. I realize it's short notice, but meh whatever. Any suggestions are welcome.

Oh and Ryan there will be no gay amateur midget pr0n or strippers available for you that night (gotta bring your own).

Wrapped up my first kart race at SP
Posted by: GQROB - 04-11-2005, 10:28 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (11)

Well, my first weekend of karting was very fun. I started by running a full day of practice (4, 10 minute sessions) at Summit Point on Friday in which my best time was a 1:42. I ran a couple practice sessions and the 45 minute race on Saturday and am uncertain where I finished but managed a best time of 1:40.02. I think I finished mid pack. I saw a bunch of racers that ended up as spectators, and was involved in a slight altercation at turn five with two other karts which put the other two guys out of the race (they admitted was not my fault, I left plenty of room). After that I ran somewhat conservatively in order to complete my first race. I also ran the engine slightly rich all weekend as I do not have a spare. I think that I will manage to knock 3-4 seconds off of my lap times in the next race as I learn to brake later, carry more speed through 1 and 5 and set the kart up better(engine/clutch).
