  JMU questions
Posted by: lillitnn92 - 04-13-2005, 03:24 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (17)

so, as you might remember, i'm unemployed. i can't seem to get anywhere. i know walking out on my last job is going to haunt me, but i'll deal with it over going nuts in a place that was becoming downright degrading to me.

so the girlfriend and i are talking about school again. i figured since you guys are going there, you might have the skinny on things or at least know who i need to talk to about it.

are there adult continuing educations classes, scholarships and what not available to me? i need to get a life and it seems going to school is the only way it's going to happen. i would like to get into the technology areas like computers, networking.

i dropped out in 10th grade, but went back for GED in 2001. if that helps any.

I am now...officially...beginning the conversion process. The Omni is now parked and we pulled the head off today. A friend needs one so I sold it. Smile Now I HAVE to start on this to drive it again.

Haven't wrenched outside for a long time. It was kinda cool.

Did I mention outside? Sylvia's mom and her damn weed-eater...we had a talk.

So, I am sad and my car is setting. But this weekend I will most likely get the rest of the old TBI out and get my friends Reliant K wagon on the road, a little bit of the Omlet will live on.

Me and Pete put it in Saturday and started it. There was a pretty large air leak sounded almost like a blower sucking air, we thought the intake was cracked. Then we had an electrical problem where it was blowing the PCM fuse. Pete tracked it down to a shorted circuit. Pretty large wiring harness. Well we work on it for about 6hrs Sunday and gave up.

I pulled all the wiring diagrams and pinouts and started testing. Tracked the short back to the main engine wiring harness. Found the wire that was shorted was going to all 8 injectors and the idle air control valve. So I started pulling injector wires and testing each of them. When I went to pull the throttle body out of the way I found that I had pinched one of the injector wires between the intake and the throttle body. This caused that circuit to gound itself out. Well I cut out the bad wire, spliced in good and reattached the Throttle body. I then fired it up and it started, ran and NO MORE AIR LEAK!!! YEA!!!!

So I threw on my race pads (had to order some new street pads) and took it for a spin around the block. Drives like shit (whole new front end and the alignment is WAY off). But damn does it pull like a mother. I left some fresh black marks in the driveway, I'm sure the wife will fuss about that in the morning, oh but damn it was worth it!!!

VIR Here I come!

This event will be very similar to the nearly legendary "Eastercross" we held last month. That is...

~50 cars
~8 runs each
~big fast technical course

AND we're proud to announce PARALLEL SCORING! (We will literally score this event by SCCA classes and NASA classes simultaneously.)

Details & pre-registration are at:

http://www.get-fast.net/nasacross/508event.html

Four MM volunteers are desperately needed as usual, hit me up 8)

Thanks and see ya there!

Sweet ass Dell laptop deals! (begins 4/13 at 0900 )
Posted by: Fyrfytr - 04-12-2005, 09:30 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (49)

This is for those who may be in need of a new laptop, or those who just have a few hundred dollars burning a hole in their pockets.

Folks, it`s coming back! Starting tomorrow morning at 8am CST (that`s 9am EST), Dell Home will have a $750 off a $1499+ Inspiron laptop coupon. It will be limited to only 10,000 uses!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come here early, and buy as fast as you can. Last time they did this, it lasted a few hours. This time will probably go quicker. Do NOT miss out. Tell your friends, family, coworkers, ANYONE who will listen. Again, Wednesday (4/13/05) at 9am EST!

Being that I'm an online-deal-shopping-whore, I have found the below sites to be the best source of info. Check back frequently for when the code(s) are announced.

  17in Rims for sale
Posted by: Jeff - 04-11-2005, 11:36 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (8)

Set of Arospeed 17in rims and Wynstar tires. Would be good for a winter set or as a track set (???). Fits Civics and other 4-lug (4X100) cars. Pretty light for being 17in. Tires have less then 8,000 on them but one has some "fender lip damage" that is not life threatening. They are 7in wide. Some curb rash on one and finish peel on the others, just paint them and roll. The Omni is now parked as the process is beginning, need money not rims Smile Make me an offer.
