  Stolen license plate
Posted by: DierwulfBL - 05-01-2005, 03:19 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (33)

Yea so last night in Ashby someone stole my front license plate (CNT MGNT). I'm contacting the police and will be pressing charges (front bumper got messed up in the process). If anyone has any information that would help me find out who did this, it would be greatly appreciated, Thank you all.

Motorsport Movie Review: On Any Sunday
Posted by: G.Irish - 05-01-2005, 12:57 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (2)

Faster and Dust 2 Glory both owe inspiration to this seminal motorsport documentary. On Any Sunday covers two-wheeled racing in the United States (mostly offroad and dirt track) in 1971, following the title defense effort of Mert Lawwill in AMA Dirt Track.

The first thing that steps out at you is the 70's music. The whole soundtrack is so 70's its straight up comical. But get past that and you'll see a light-hearted, lovingly-made film documentary that captures the passion and the fun of racing motorcycles. It manages to do so with quite a bit of humor too.

The director, Bruce Brown is the father of Dana Brown, who directed Dust 2 Glory. The influence is readily apparent.

I'd have to say the best thing about On Any Sunday is that it captures the soul of motorcycle racing. It touches on the extreme lengths the riders will go through to win and the enthusiasm of even the slowest of the amatuer riders. Good stuff.

Tell me what you think of them. I sat in them at OG Racing and they felt fine. Who are they meant for? Will I be laughed at if I took them to the strip and the occasional autox?

the dub got a face lift
Posted by: Sijray21 - 04-30-2005, 12:28 PM - Forum: Appearance/Cosmetic - Replies (22)

Hey guys,

as most of you know, my mom's had the gti mkii for a while now and after doing the valve cover gasket mod to make it rubber instead of cork to help stop the leaking of oil...(yes, the valve cover gasket was made of cork)...i decided to help the lighting situation. The old lights sucked at night and one of them lost an aligning bolt harness and constantly pointed straight at the ground. With a little help from scotty yesterday we were able to do the popular vw mkii conversion to the 7" single rounds.

Here are the pics: Big Grin

I also changed the wheels since i had one steelie with 3 alloys. Now i have the teardrops that came on the 16v's from the later mkii's

Before, taken about a year ago back home:

Some of the parts:
Core support and grill thanks to Rex!!
Headlights and harness' thanks to Futrellautowerks.com

The old hood latch was held on to the old core support with rivets and we were a little confused as to how we were going to attach the old hood latch to the new core support. I couldn't have done this without the help of Scotty:

Custom job on the hood latch:

Soo much better:

just wanted to share Big Grin

Next projects for the car (long term goals):

suspension (springs/struts/front tower brace) -- should happen soon
brakes (pretty much the whole system)
shifter linkages
engine swap (obd-1 vr6 is what i'm looking for)
Interior (roll bar, seats, steering wheel, hub)

Crew needed for Summit Point 12 hour, June 3-4
Posted by: .RJ - 04-29-2005, 12:21 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (70)

I will be crew cheif for the DZ Racing "stars and stripes" Acura Integra for this year's 12 hour race @ summit point and we need a few more hands to help out. Its not particularly glamorous work but its a lot of fun and a great experience. I am not sure if the team is entering a 2nd car again this year. If you can make it out to this you will have a great time and learn a lot about racing being there.

I will be in charge of the car and doing the prep work, but we need some crew to help do brake changes, re-fuelling, running to the gas station/etc, and whatever other help we will need for the event. The weekend will start friday with practice and qualifying and the race starts saturday at noon. We will most likely have a test day wed or thurs before the event that we will use to shake down and dial in the car, heat cycle tires, bed in brake pads and practice pit stops - it will be a pretty busy day. All food, drinks, beer, etc are provided by the crew as well for the whole weekend as well as an RV if you need to take a nap.

Both cars in 2002:
