Posted by: HAULN-SS - 05-16-2006, 09:43 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (7)

So, i've had two interviews with this company...get an email saying "I'm going to reccommend you for hire after I speak to 'the executives' and get back to you early nxt week"...well, I get an email today saying "Please send your resume again in a word document (which it was all along)"

..now, I know they had at least 5 printed copies of my resume when I was up for interviews, and shemust have the emailed original to print from...why did they ask for it agian?

Also...if I get this job...wait for me for the throwdown...I'm in.

'01 Jetta brake job. anyone done one?
Posted by: Evan - 05-16-2006, 05:07 PM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (21)

Im doing brakes for a friend this weekend on a 01 Jetta.
Anyone ever done them before on this car?
If so any quirks or things I need to know?

Im assuming that its standard fare easy-as-pie slide off slide on disc brakes. But those germans can do some wonky shit sometimes, so Im curious if there is anything out of the ordinary

  Rex got a Job.
Posted by: CaptainHenreh - 05-16-2006, 02:37 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (23)

Well, starting June 5, I will officially be gainfully employed as a "Level 1 Systems Engineer" at a smallish DOD contractor in Manassas. I'll be juggling Win2K server images for the software development folks.

I'm very excited. :-D

2 days after graduation, and I've got a job. I want to thank all the MM'ers that helped me out, whether with resume' feedback or pointing me in the right direction. Smile

  Saturn Sky Redline
Posted by: JustinG - 05-16-2006, 02:21 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (55)

This car is pimp as hell, Redline version, 260 hp and 260 ft lbs, 2.0L DVVT turbo & intercooled, RWD w/ LSD. 0-60 in 5.5 sec. and almost a 50/50 balance. Coming Fall 2006, MSRP unknown.

Compared to the normal N/A 2.4L w/ VVT, producing 177hp and 166 ft lbs. RWD w/ Optional LSD. Base MSRP $23k

Im a big fan, much better looking than the Solstice in my opinion as well, i know weve talked bout this car before but didnt think the redline was mentioned.

Focus + Tractor trailer = Carnage
Posted by: CaptainHenreh - 05-15-2006, 07:33 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (20)

Well, on our way to my brother's from my two hour (!!!) interview in Lanham, MD we were southbound on I-95, about 4 o'clock, and....

we were rear-ended by a loaded tractor trailer.

Oh yeah.

Once the car was cut from the tractor trailer, we drove it away. Going to take it to Dallas Hollar tomorrow if I can, and tell them to look for anything that could possibly be wrong, at all, and how much to fix it.

Pics to come.

And yeah, Julie is pissed speechless.

  SOLD: NASA Worker Credits
Posted by: JohnC - 05-15-2006, 07:23 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (13)

Between Jess and myself, we have 128 worker credits, which is enough for 4 HPDE weekends. We're selling because we just won't be able to use these credits anytime soon, and would rather see some of the rest of you get out on track...

We're pricing these in line with recent credit sales @ $250/32 credits. Total price for all 128 credits is $1000. We'll sell in 32 credit increments, but someone who wants them all will get precedence, for ease of paperwork on Laura's end.

That time of the year again... Mobil oil sale!
Posted by: Mike - 05-15-2006, 03:11 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (66)

Need some oil? Employee rates. Ask for prices... Come in cases of six one-quart bottles.

For reference, plain-jane Mobil 1 oils are $22/case.

I will need money by May 26.
