F/S - Custom built Sanyo Kegerator
Posted by: Jeff - 10-30-2008, 11:21 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (93)

I'll post pictures when I get a chance. I am just checking interest. This kegerator is a stainless front slim fridge that when the keg is installed is completely self contained (tank is inside with the beer). Its very slim and the point of building it was to have a "classy" kegerator that looked good and didn't take up much space. It is really a Sanyo mini-fridge but it has a General Electric logo on it to match my other appliances...makes it seem fancy as actual GE kegerators are like $800-1200. It holds a 1/6 keg...which is a tall slim keg of about 55 beers. The kit is a beverageworks premium kit with all stainless parts. Its really top quality micromatic stuff with their logo on it.

Anyway, $350 picked up. Includes Mic Ultra tap handle.

Jeep Cherokee - what am I looking for?
Posted by: Ginger - 10-28-2008, 08:59 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (21)

I'm going to go look at a 1998 Cherokee with 115K this evening. It's an auto, 4x4 model, and appears to be in terrific [cosmetic] shape. From the pictures I can tell that the head unit is not stock, and the speakers may be aftermarket, as well... but everything else seems to be OEM.

I've heard that one of the A/C hoses can cause a backup and a weak A/C system, and that they rattle and creak a fair amount, but that's about all I know about these things. I've been told that they're built like brick outhouses (major plus). Is there anything to look out for at this mileage (I don't really consider it to be that high, FWIW)? From what I've found, around, his asking price seems reasonable: input?

A link to the ad for the one I'm looking at is below:

I know a couple of you guys have/have had one of these things, I'd love to hear what you've got to say.

  ADVISE NEEDED....what should I do?
Posted by: BLAIR - 10-26-2008, 10:18 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (57)

I think there are some fairly level headed people on this forum so I wanted to run this all by you. I would also ask that you keep this semi confidential. I am not supposed to be talking about details.

As most of you know I graduated in 07 from JMU and work for Chrysler as a Service and Parts district manager out on the eastern shore for just about a year and a half now. Currently I am making a round number half way between 50k and 70k ( I donÔÇÖt want to say what I make, but you all can figure it out) I get a free company car that I can use as a personal car and a corporate card that I expense all gas on and lunch everyday. I work from home and make my own schedule. ItÔÇÖs a pretty awesome setup. I love the job and if I could be promised that I would have this job over the next few years I would blow off this severance package.

I have been offered a severance package from Chrysler to basically quit. Friday they announced they will be cutting 25% of white collar jobs. I can get 50k and a 25k car vouched that I would obviously cash is. A potential 75k pre taxed. Also 6 months of full health insurance.

My thoughts are that I am very surprised that I am offered this after just over a year of work. I would think they would lay me off and give me a pat on the back and a sorry. I also am concerned that this offer may not stand and I should take the money and run while its there. If you hear the news you know there is a lot going on with Chrysler right now. I am very sure that if the 25% cut was coming I would be one of the last to cut. I am new and young and they have devoted a lot of money into training me. I think they would more so weed out the old guys. I also know they I have backup plans ready. I can get a job writing service at a dealer making similar money right away. From talking to the other young new hired that came on with me it seems about 90% are taking this package and leaving.

What do you all think?

  Mom's first autocross
Posted by: Jake - 10-26-2008, 09:50 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (6)

Today was the final autocross at FedEx Field for the season. I was home this weekend for work, and decided to hit up the AutoX while I was up that way. Aannnnddd, I invited my parents Big Grin

They brought Mom's Crossfire and I did my best to talk them through the process of driving one of these courses. Turns out, the course we ran today was one that was used at the National Championships, just transplanted to FedEx. Not gonna lie, it was tough. Lots of people going off-course today.

Big thanks to Mr. Peter Tyson for giving the parentals a ride-along and sufficiently scaring them shitless before their first run

Dad did pretty well for it being his first time - bottom of the pack time-wise but he improved by about 10 seconds over the 4 runs. Mom surprised me though... first three runs were DNF because of missing gates (partially the hard course for a beginner, plus her inexperience) with long times, but the last run was clear - no gates missed, no cones downed - and improved by 27 seconds compared to run #1. She was pumped after that last run... and I'm glad that she improved that much.

Needless to say, they'll both be back once the season starts up again. Just thought I'd share...

  Black 14in. Daisy wheels w/worn Azenis $100
Posted by: DLingenfelter - 10-25-2008, 05:15 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - No Replies

On the block here (or my back porch) are my 14" Falkens. Two of them are fairly worn although I've seen almost completely bald ones vying for top spots at Autocroses before so they definately have some life left. The other two are still pretty good, consider them a little below shaved depth. Once again, good depth left for autocrossing, but not for driving every day having to deal with standing water.

The wheels are perfectly straight with a few knicks in the paint there and there.
While 14's don't seem to be the hot ticket for STS2, I have beaten other cars with wider 15's and come very close to others so the difference isn't terrible (and this is on stock springs). Great tires to learn on, and good wheels to mount R-comps on later...

$100, I'm buying a Rollbar soon and putting a new set of Azenis on my All season 14's.
PM me if you want them

A movie after MM's own heart? I think so....

Clint Eastwood (badass) plays a gun-toting (guns) war veteran (badass) who drives a Gran Torino (old school muscle). He gets into it with an asian gang (asians) with more guns (guns) that do drive-by's out of a Honda Civic (Honda). Much ass-kicking ensues.
