  Urgent: HALP! needed in N.Va
Posted by: Goodspeed - 12-20-2009, 01:05 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (17)

Hey all:

My brother and I are trying to get to Dulles for a flight today to join family in California for Christmas. We're at his apt. in the Courthouse neighborhood of Arlington and even though the roads are decent we're pretty much stuck: metro/buses are down, and taxis aren't running (we've called all the numbers we've found).

If ANYONE is able and willing to give us a ride, we'll bless you with 50 bucks and wishes of a jolly season. We'd need to leave here by 2pm ideally for our flight departing just after 4:20.

My #: 540-383-7156

TIA

Just curious, seeing as this is the worst storm in December since like 1900 and something for Richmond atleast.

14inches so far and still comming down.

  Running Extraction Tally

Report your snow extractions here!

My count so far: 11
Including:
1 Holsum bread truck stuck in an intersection, pulled him all the way to Walmart :-) (possibly my best one ever)
1 Chevy Avalanche. (I really enjoyed that one)
1 Geo Tracker
1 Ford Contour (same one twice!)
1 F450 Ford 4x4 Ambulance, right in front of our house!
1 Chevy 2500 snowplow, that was a challenge. Plow was buried in the snow and he was in quite a ditch.
1 Chevy Caprice
1 GMC Jimmy 4x4
1 Toyota Celeca
1 Jeep Cherokee

My snow gauge is 24" tall and I can't see it any more. Staunton is shut down and it's great. All of these extractions were on my way to/from friends houses, etc, and I didn't go "out of my way" to get to any. I would have never gotten where I was going otherwise! My requirements are: old, useful, or upset.

So I know a few of you, I really haven't been able to attend as much as I would, of liked too this semester as my class load was a bit much, but next semester is looking good!

My name is Colin Lernihan, I'm a sophomore, majoring in Finance and heres a bit of my history with cars....
I got started with a nice reliable 96 Acura Integra ls 5 speed, actually found a unmolested unmodded former company car, and I loved it. After a year or so I was looking for more power and lusting after a RWD car, thankfully my best friend at the time got me into the Nissan scene, one ride in his former s13 sr20 hatch and I was hooked.

About a year later, I was driving my integra downtown and got sideswiped by a minivan going about 50mph Confusedhock:

My faithful teg held up well but she was totalled, after a summer of no car I went off to JMU, finally the summer after my freshman year I picked up my new baby. A rare convertible s13 with a 98 sr20det type x blacktop swapped in. though I wish i could say I had the pleasure of swapping it myself (too costly for the upgrades this one had already) I picked it up from a 25 year old anal retentive guy from Va beach who rarely drove it and needed a more practical car for children. Absolutely love my car to death, and am looking forward to possibly autocrossing it this upcoming season

  Schumi is back!
Posted by: G.Irish - 12-18-2009, 12:10 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (5)

Michael Schumacher just signed a 20 million pound deal to drive for Mercedes/Brawn next season.

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.crash.net/f1/news/155421/1/schumacher_to_be_paid_20m_by_mercedes_in_f1_2010.html">http://www.crash.net/f1/news/155421/1/schumacher_to_be_paid_20m_by_mercedes_in_f1_2010.html</a><!-- m -->

I can't say I'm really happy to see him come back. I hate it when great athletes come back when they're well past being competitive and stink up their legacy (Ali, Jordan, etc.). I hope Schumacher doesn't embarrass himself. But shit, for about $40 million who could say no?

Anyone in MM have a 2in hitch mounted bike carrier? I know we have a lot of bicyclists here so I figured it would be worth a try.

I figured someone here might want it, only had this hooked up for a couple of months before I upgraded to Fios.

Looks like above.

Saw it at Wal-Mart new for $79.99, so $50 sounds like a good starting point, if you know of anyone who wants it.

vacuum hoses connected to fuel injectors?!?
Posted by: BLINGMW - 12-15-2009, 08:26 PM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (34)

ok, someone 'splain me this please:

On this 318ti I got (and apparently all e36 318s), there's a hose coming off the rubber intake tube, connected to a little 4-way thing, and then smaller hoses connecting to each fuel injector. What possible purpose could this serve? :?: :?: :?:

another pic I found:

Checking out a used car in Hburg
Posted by: Maengelito - 12-15-2009, 05:56 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (14)

Hey guys, I was hoping someone still left in Harrisonburg would be able to check out a used car.

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://autos.yahoo.com/used-cars/toyota-sienna-cars327231170">http://autos.yahoo.com/used-cars/toyota-sienna-cars327231170</a><!-- m -->

Its not for me, its for a friend (I swear to god, he's got twins, hence the minivan). The dealership is

VA Auto Sales
877-632-2897
1434 Virginia Ave
Harrisonburg VA

If someone has some free time and knows where this place is, can you go check it out for all the usual things you'd look for in a used car? (aligned body panels, paint overspray, weird noises, scuffs/scratches, electronics work, etc) Like I said, my buddy's got twins so his schedule isn't really conducive to go driving around all day looking at cars so the more info I can get for him before he goes out, the better. It'd be a huge favor and the next time I see you, beers are on me. Just let me know if one of you will be able to help him out. Thanks!
