F/S - 1997 Jeep Cherokee Country
Posted by: Jeff - 07-06-2010, 12:10 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (21)

My Jeep Cherokee is for sale if anyone on the MM forum might be interested. Most of you have seen the thread, check it out here. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=8698

It has 157,000 miles on it now. Everything is in good working order. 3in lift sets it on 31in tires. The roof rack, lights, and step bars are included. The tools in the rack and the CB radio are not. Gets 11 mpg in city 16-18 on the highway. Plenty of fun useful capability. I'm asking $4,500 obo. Title in hand.

Let's see which sells first.

2007 Mazdaspeed 3 Sport
31000 Miles
Mazdaspeed-exclusive Cosmic Blue
Bone stock, save for a Jeff Morrison Sirius satellite radio install that deleted the ashtray.
Brandy new tires.
Oil Changes every 3k, have records.

Fast as all fuck, but the new has worn off. Looking to get something more comfortable. (A grandaddilac? Maaayyybe. Maybe I'll even ease Jeff's pain and buy something with a Hemi. Can't do nothing until this goes.)

Sixteen Thousand Dollars And No Cents

Looks like dis:

Except it's got a big scratch on the driver's side door I'm going to get repaired, as well as some clearcoat scrapes from my idiot neighbor (which will get done at the same time). No accidents or anything. No track time, save as a pace car. No autocrosses. I baby this thing, probably too much.

The bank still has the title, sorry. We'll have to deal with that, but plenty of people do. Smile Figured I'd test the waters with you guys first, see what happened.

 Yakima Roof Racks for sale
Posted by: Ole - 07-05-2010, 05:26 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (13)

Here they are!

There is a set for what would have fit a BMW 740i and a set that attaches to a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Ski/Snowboard system I believe will fit on either rack system as will the car carrier. I will post an actual pic of the Carrier tomorrow. I have used for snowboards (one side lifts so the bidings do not rub against the car) and skis as well as my wakeboards. The cargo carrier I have used for many things (luggage, skis wakeboards and snowboards). I also have the original Grand Cheorokee racks as well.

Since I now have a big ass truck to haul this stuff, I no longer need these racks.

Make me an offer! I will seperate the items, just let me know what you want.

I think this what the box looks like except it has a white top and black bottom (I recall it as being bigger).

 FS -- 2005 Ford Focus ZX3 S $3750
Posted by: CaptainHenreh - 07-04-2010, 02:17 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (7)

OK kids.

I know one of you either needs or knows someone who needs a good "beater". I'm not really going to call this a beater. There's no rust, no mechanical problems, the AC works, it gets 29mpg every gd tank and it has satellite radio.

The Lowdown:

2005 Ford Focus ZX3 S. (2 door hatchie)
112000 miles. (Ok, 111,7something)
Black
5 Speed
Manual windows
Manual Locks
AC.
2.0 Duratec (130hp, timing chain)
Oil changes every 5k with Ford Motorcraft earl and filter.
Brandy new brakes and rotors.
Tires last year, still have lots of life
SVT Suspension (shocks, springs, rear swaybar)
Pioneer head unit with aux input and Sirius receiver.
I have some 17" Kosei K1's that go with the car for asking price. If you want to haggle, you lose them.

Yeah, the miles are a little high. But this thing is rock solid.

Here's the rundown of ANY mechanical issue we've EVER had with the car:
May 2006: A tractor trailer bumps us on I-95. This is professionally repaired at the HBurg Ford dealership. They replace the hatch and fix the body pan. It has resulted in NO issues with alignment or tire wear.
April 2009: Alternator goes. We replace it with a NEW Ford OEM alternator and NEW belt at the Manassas Ford dealership.
May 2009: Headlights are replaced.
March 2010: Power steering fluid flush. Not really a problem, we just did it @ 100k miles. Dealer also replaced license plate illumination lights. Dealer recommended NO additional service be done to the car.
June 2010: Front Pads and Rotors are replaced with NEW Ford OEM parts. Again, didn't really need it. They were squeaking, and it was annoying.
July 2010: Julie & Rex begin to discuss Focus replacement, find the PERFECT Subaru Outback Sport at a dealer in Fredericksburg; they can't resist.

So there you go. I have nothing to hide with this car. It's a good car. I'm going to be honest, I was skeptical when Julie bought a Ford (I was always a Chevy man) but this has been a great, fuel efficient, comfortable, semi sporty, reliable ride.

I'm going to give her a bath and Vacuum her out and put up pictures, but in the meantime:

With Kosei K1's:

With Stock Steelies and 'caps:

It looks *exactly* the same, those were just taken 2 years ago.

The Price?

$3750

KBB Sez:
Excellent: $4,815
Good: $4,315
Fair: $3,490

So I think $3750 is more than a fair price. I'm going to put it on CL for 4k.

Thanks everybody!

Pagani Zonda R reportedly sets new Nurburgring record

Reports from the Old World indicate that a new Nordschleife record has been taken by the Pagani Zonda R. And by some margin, too: After Ferrari lapped the ring in 6:58, its cross-town rival reportedly scrubbed over ten seconds off that time with a 6:47.

Now before you protest that the Zonda R isn't road legal, we'll point out that the 599XX with which Ferrari scored its time isn't, either. Both these Modenese supercars belong to a new category of vehicle known as the track car, bridging the gap between street-legal and race cars with production-based forms. And the Zonda R, it would seem, is the new king.

Runs fine at 1.4 bar, I haven't tried anything above that, I believe it goes up to 2 bar. These go for $275-300 all day long on Ebay, so no insane low balls but I'm open to offers.

Works perfectly, just would rather have the cash.

Guess it's my turn to ask career advice..
Posted by: navin - 06-30-2010, 08:21 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (13)

Sup fellas - been awhile since I've posted up here... So i've been put in a interesting situation regarding my job/career and figured I would ask the more experienced members of this board (aka. you old farts)..

So my current job - I've been here for about a year and half, its gov't consulting doing IT security shtuff. I took the first offer from a company that was offering a decent salary and didn't have me working help desk. I've enjoyed the work, have some pretty cool coworkers.

Anyways, fast forward to 2010. I get a promotion, get a salary bump (8% - sounds great, but from what i started at, still way below IT professionals)..Of course more responsibilties, client face time - basically sink or swim and I've been swimminggg. At this time I've submitted my 6 month review for 2010, still have yet to hear anything back (thinking there wont be a significant raise)...

Now my predicament is - yesterday I interviewed with another company. Went in there with a more relaxed attitude because I do have a job currently.

Anyways new company interviews me, calls me an hour 1/2 later and says they want me. I am deciding right now what to do.... Should i even tell my current company that i have another offer on the table, and to match it.. or just accept?

New Company = A NICE salary increase, almost the same line of work, less technical, another small company, they have option years every year on their contract...

Sorry if my syntax of the post is all messed up, im writing this at work Smile

Any of you guys ever worked for booz allen? I had interviews with them yesterday. They went well, and I talked with like 4 managers and a partner. And one other guy who kind of scared me when he said "we don't really do 40 hour weeks here"

I'm not sure if that applies to everyone, or maybe he was more of a business person, or what.
I think I'll probably get 2 offers out of the interviews, but I am trying to find out about that work-life balance. I've had a few people tell me it's great and I need to get on there, and a couple people tell me to beware.
