| Moto Paintwork in NoVa |

I need my CB750 tank, headlight bucket, oil tank, etc repainted and the tank probably need some of the previous bodywork fixed (its a little wavy). Not a huge job but I want it done right but also not too interested in spending $1000 either. The old job, i got what I paid for and I'm ok with that - but the paint is chipping off/discolored in spots and the bodywork wasnt the best. Not in a rush, but would like to have it back on the road by the end of the summer.
Suggestions?

Hey guys/girls. I have a 1978 Kz200 non-running due to a stripped head and camshaft. Here is a link to my build and at the bottom of the page (pictures) is where I'm stuck. I can't seem to find a head or camshaft. I've bought a KLT200 head and cam but had to return them when the carb boot intake did not fit and there was no tach meter. Can anyone help?

Hey guys. This will be my third year at JMU as a geology major. I don't own a car but I do own a currently non-running 1978 Kawasaki Kz200. I'm in the process of restoring it. The only thing I need now to make her run is a head and camshaft. Can anyone help? I was told by Jake Thiews that some of you have built motorcycles. Well its time to shine and show your stuff. Oh I'm also going to try to start up a motorcycle club at JMU hopefully working with Madison Motorsports. Anyone down?
-Thanks,
Michael

Just a heads-up for everyone... our FAQ section is all re-done and pretty impressive now. Joey did a project for one of his WRTC classes this past spring, and the end result was a Madison Motorsports Handbook. I finally got around to taking what he wrote and HTML-ifying it. Needless to say, the FAQ (and our website in general) is now substantially beefier.
Thanks, Joey, and enjoy the reading

Welp, it looks like I'm going to have to replace the motor in the bike, so I took a look around for some stuff to sell and offset the cost.
So anyway, I have a Walther P22 in delicious condition that I original was going to hang onto because I love it, but alas, doesn't seem like that's an option. Its the normal black, 3.4in barrel, I still have both clips and a simple little hip holster for it. Its an awesome little plinker/learner gun. Its surprisingly accurate and cheap as balls to shoot, thats the magic of a .22. Price is $200 firm. It's a pretty fair (and i think attractive) price, and I really need the damn money. Soooo someone buy it.
I also have a Sony VGN AR520E Laptop. 17" screen, 4 GB of ram, 1.8GHz processor, 200GB drive, Full 1080HD screen. Its an enormous laptop and pretty beastly for what it is. I've been using it for the past year under the TV as an entertainment center which is a great use for it, you can just fold it up and slip it on the shelf and run Boxee or WMC. Anyway, I'll reformat it before I sell it, and the 9 and 0 key don't work, but a replacement board is like $15 on eBay. Refurbished they go for $699, $450 firm and it's in the mail.
I'll post pictures tomorrow, hopefully you guys have just been waiting to buy these two totally awesome things for these totally awesome prices, and I can order a motor. *crosses fingers*

Is there any way in Virginia to maintain my registration in Rockingham county, even if I'm moving to NoVA? Register to a PO Box? Browsing the DMV's website didn't really answer anything :dunno:

Apparently officers and judges make the law in MD?

A Maryland judge issued an $85 fine to the owner of a Pontiac G8 GT for illegal tail lights, despite being factory-installed and approved by the US Department of Transportation. She's promised to keep fining him. Judicial activism, FTL!
Forum member "jackalope" at G8Board.com was ticketed by a Maryland officer who claimed he was sporting illegal tail lights. After amassing a healthy amount of evidence proving he hadn't modified his car and it was approved for sale by the Department of Transportation, he went to court confident the ticket would be dismissed, only to find the contrary. We'll let him tell you how it all went down:
Quote:Originally Posted by G8Forum Member

The judge actualy told me she didn't care what the manufacturer said, what the federal govt said, what the DOT # stamped onto my taillights said if the officer says my lights aren't legal then they're not legal. I took the G8 sales brochure in along with pics of my car and other G8 GT's and the VIN trace by 3 different dealers saying my lights were factory none of it mattered she found me guilty of failing to display or reflect red light on the rear of the car. Didn't matter the reflecters were in the bumper, didn't matter where the light is has that little red circle, the whole lens isn't red so they're not legal. Also where the back-up and turn signals are should be the reflectors according to the cop so the V6 cars lights aren't legal either.
Judge stupid went on to tell me that maybe I should consider trading in or selling the car since its not legal in MD and that I'm going to continue to get the $60 tickets till I get rid of the car.
So I contacted Pontiac's 1-800 # and I have an apt next friday to have my car looked at by them and see if they can help or at least repay me the $85.50 fine and court costs.
I honestly don't know what else I can do. The cop was ALL smiles afterwards and winked at me! WTF! Now I'm screwed! How do I go to work now? I drive right thru where he works!! So this ass nuget can make up **** randomly for any car he gets a hard on for and nothing can be done to fight it!
This is BS.
The problem centers around the clear lens tail lights and bumper-mounted reflectors of the Pontiac G8 GT model. Because the red area in the lenses is reduced in the G8 GT, there are reflectors mounted in the bumper to reflect additional light and bring the reflective requirements into spec. Th officer and by extension the judge considered them illegal.
Now, we can understand Mr. Jackalope's momentary lack of respect for the legal system above ÔÇö this is B.S., but he's got legitimate cause to be pissed. He bought a car he assumed to fall within the operations laws of all states and which was in reality approved for nationwide sale by the government. According to the Judge, the opinion of an Officer of the Law supersedes what the Federal government approved for sale and the design somehow doesn't jive with what the State of Maryland considers legal.
One of the other forum members has offered up legal service to fight the fine, but it makes us wonder if all the G8 GT drivers in Maryland now have something to worry about. Should motorists who've bought a car approved by the Federal government be worried about being arbitrarily fined by a Judge who seems to side with the opinion of an officer over the law. I have for sale a set of four ATS Comp Lite wheels, sized 15x7, 4x100/108 with a +35 offset...perfect for Miata's, Civics, Integras, etc. They are no longer produced by ATS (in Germany) and, from browsing online FS/Want Ads, seem to be fairly rare as well. They come in right at 13 lbs.
Pictures - Flickr Photo Album
I bought these wheels from Maeng in February, and in April I had them professionally sandblasted, powdercoated and cleared by T&L Powdercoating in Stanardsville, VA. They were originally a kind of poopy-brown gunmetal, but I saw the potential in silver, and I was right - these are flat out beautiful.
Since then they have resided in my garage, with zero miles on them since being refinished. I wanted to wait until I lowered the car to mount them with tires (to avoid the 4x4 look so noticeable with aftermarket wheels/stock suspension), but with an upcoming move and the requisite funds necessary priorities have changed and these have to go.
They are truly gorgeous - and rare - wheels, and being that they are no longer produced new, you won't find a cleaner, perfectly-finished set!
Currently located in Harrisonburg, VA. After the last week of July, they will be located in Vienna, VA. Pick-up preferred.

$500 firm

| spinning ignition? |

So what is it when my ignition works just fine for weeks, a month, but every now and then I hop in to start it, and it spins around.... around.... 3, 4 times, I jiggle the steering wheel a bit, spin again... oh there it goes, perfectly fine now. Away I go. How does it just spin around freely like nothing's there and then be fine 98% of the time?
I don't really understand what's going on in there. :dunno: Am I going to be stranded suddenly one day? Do I replace the lock cylinder now before that happens or will it get a lot worse and happen more often first?
