996 Turbo in for a single step correctional + sealant applicaton- although this Turbo was maintained decently over the past several years, it still needed much attention- Rupes/ Flex/ PC and Sonax PF made a great dent in the defects.

I've worked on numerous 996's, mostly C4's but never had the opportunity to work on the Turbo- lots of fun!

Up here is a brand new (approx. 400 miles on the odo) BMW 550Xi with the available M sport package- this client of mine has been with me for a while and had contacted me a while back when first deciding to make the moves on the new bavarian sedan.

Objective was to give the 5 a new car prep with an application of Opti Coat 2.0 to set the sedan off on the right foot.

The only correction was needed was a single step which was acheived with my Rupes and PC on nearly 95% of the body. The 5 was given a total of 3 decon washes- a final being a dawn wash to strip any oils etc. before coating application.

Befores- NOTE- marring and other minor swirling from improper washing/ the factory were all VERY minor and extremely hard for me to photograph- hence the lack of before correction pics.


Dull and full of dust

Typical brake dust and the greasy tire shine applied by the dealer slung all over the wheel faces/ barrels- lots of silicone here!


The fain and very small swirls and random areas full of marring were hard to capture by camera




The interior was completed and the 5 was pulled into the shade for its first decon wash

A combination of Sonax PF and Menz 106 was used across the entire body- multiple IPA wipedowns and a full wash to strip off any remaining oils prepped the surface for Opti Coat, tires dressed with Opti gel, windows cleaned, all weatherstripping and seals dressed with 303 and the motor and other various trim pieces dressed with Megs HD diluted 2:1. Opti coat was also applied to the wheels.

The shadow trim that comes optional with the M package was of course properly taped off and polished + coated as well- this took a little bit of patience and time as you can imagine- trim also dressed appropriately following decon wash



Very, very, beautiful interior color combo- a very tasteful choice by the client

Getting a chance to catch up on some recent work- up here is a 2013 Pearl White GTR that recently was given to me for a single step correctional + paint sealant app- the GTR had several areas on the body where the protective film adhesive had "stained" the clear. This GTR recently was detailed closer to spring time and somehow these "stains" were missed and not addressed.

Correctional shots are not provided- did not have access to an SLR that day- point and shoot could not focus in enough to catch marring, fine line swirls etc.

Up here is a CLS 63 AMG which was in need of a full correction- client chose Opti Coat 2.0 as LSP, all in all the correctional took nearly 3 days to complete and the results were worth every hour.

Hey there everybody,

Up here is a very low mileage 2006 Cayman S in Midnight blue- the car is driven hard- autox'ed/ tracked in NASA at various tracks up here in the east coast!

This Cayman is unique- I was informed that this exact model was used by Porsche for its advertising and print media, being a midnight blue/ terracotta interior combo it is a unique combination!

The focus for this project was to of course revitalize the interior and remove the heavy soiling from the leather bits and various hard plastic areas but also fully correct the exterior.

Correction was performed with PC/ FLEX/ RUPES D/A's, various foam pads, M101, Sonax PF

Opti Coat 2.0 was used for LSP, since the car is tracked regularly, the existing clear film was left on and corrected as best possible- opti of course applied on top as well.

After nearly two days and 20 hours of correcting- the Cayman was pulled outside and given a full decon wash to remove all left over oils etc- IPA wipedowns were performed but a full wash was needed to remove the excessive dust etc.

Since having the engine mount replaced (and the water pump... bah humbug!), I like the car a lot more, but not enough to warrant a 2nd car and ship it to Oregon. Tell your friends! Car has been babied its entire life. If someone is looking for the enjoyment of a tracked-out '93 Civic in a much more expensive [and some may say cuter] package, this is the car for them.

I have my tool kart for sale that I have been using in my trailer for the last year. The kart has been great, in fact I like it so much that I am buying the bigger version of the same kart. Since my trailer is "home base" for my race car and my team's chump car effort, I need just a bit more room since it is now our "war chest" in pit lane. Kart is for sale for best offer.

Honda historically has been loathe build 3 types of engines: production engines with more than 6 cylinders, 2-strokes, and turbos. Now with new emissions regulations and several years of getting kicked in the teeth by turbocharged competition, Honda is unveiling a family of turbo engines.

1.0L = 127 hp/147 tq
1.5L = 201 hp/192 tq
2.0L = 280 hp/295 tq
3.5L = ???

Not sure where all of the engines will go, but the 2.0T will go in the Euro/JDM CTR at the least. Rumor is American Honda is lobbying to get it in a RWD application but who knows if that will ever pan out.

1.5L might be going in the Fit-based SUV and a mid-engined S car. 1.0L will be in the S1000 for some markets.

As a long suffering Honda fan I am saddened that there may never be another high revving naturally-aspirated car engine from Honda but I am happy they'll finally bring out some products with more power. Now all we need is the proper cars for this to go into.

Been meaning to do some research on this, but wanted to see if anyone from the SBX has personal experience with these type of head units.

Basically I want something for my 4runner that I can hookup a backup camera to, and also that is compatible with iPhone so I can bluetooth stream Spotify/Pandora + Google Maps navigation and do hands free calling.

A coworker of mine has the Parrot Asteroid smart, pretty cool I guess... but since it's pretty new the cost is kind of high. I don't really need any top of the line stuff there, so I don't mind buying older models.
