OK, typical roll-call for the NASA weekends!

I'm in for pace car and TT'ing. My dad is doing a Hyperdrive in my M3 and mom is doing one in her Crossfire. One of dad's work friends bought her husband a Hyperdrive so he will be there, too - in a decommissioned Chevy Impala police car :thumbup:

Who else is in? Still room for Hyperdrives and full HPDE weekends.

My buddy was supposedly going to buy this from me, but flaked. So now it's on craigslist, priced a little bit high for the low ballers that are sure to abound. If anyone is REALLY interested I can work with you on price a little.

I looked forever to find a srad gsxr that wasn't wrecked/dropped/painted/etc so this is somewhat of a survivor.

Well I had a big day car-wise on Saturday. I met someone in Gainesville, VA and sold my Trans Am to him for what I had in the car including the mods. So not a bad deal for either of us.

Then, I made a small detour on the way home and picked this thing up in Gaithersburg, MD. It's a 2010 135i with the M-sport package. Other fancy features on this one include built in navi, heated seats, premium package with real leather as opposed to leatherette, the smart key, and the premium HK sound system.

So far I love it. And there's a bunch of stuff that I want to modify on it which means I'll probably actually keep this one for a while. It needs a little more power, but that will be taken care of whenever my bonus comes in the next month or so. :twisted:

Power-wise the plan is to just get an intake and tune it. That bumps these up to about 350whp since this is the twin-turbo model. This should be more than enough for what I want in a daily driver. Otherwise, I'll probably do the "golf-tee" mod tomorrow. That just keeps the vacuum controlled valve on the muffler open all the time so that it has a little more sound under 3k rpms.

Here's a couple pictures for now until I get a chance to clean it up and take some nicer pictures.

So, finally came to an agreement with my brother on a price for his GTI since he is upgrading. That means it's time to let this guy go.

The Basics:

2011 Evo GSR - 5 Speed - ~38K miles at this time (will no longer see long trips, work commute is 8 miles and 6 of them are highway) - No accidents - Recaro seats - HID's - Bluetooth music & phone - Rockford Fosgate stereo

The Bad:

Only issue she's ever given me was that boost issue I noted about a year ago. It was the result of the boxed tune from COBB and once I removed that it's been fine.

Clutch is in the initial stages of being finished. It's only when you absolutely slam on it that it slips a bit. Dealership didn't even notice when I told them to look for it and they wanted an hour's worth a labor to diagnose it. No idea on clutches but I would imagine you have a couple thousand miles before it really becomes an issue.

It's currently on lease. I have been through this process and it really is not all that different from it being financed. So the title is not clean in that sense.

The Good:

Other than the self imposed boost issue above, car has never given me any problems

Change with Mobil 1 Synthetic every 4-5K

30K service was done on time (Diffs, transmission and transfer case fluids)

Brake pads recently done, rotors were fine , replaced with GiroDisc bads

38K mileage was probably about 65-70% highway

No noteworthy body imperfections



Think I got everything. Car right now blue books for 24.8K private sell, i'll be honest in that I owe pretty much exactly that. Given the somewhat impending clutch situation I'm asking for 23K. If it helps any I have a contact for OEM mitsu parts that can get the clutch for pretty much cost, or you can go to RockAuto and scoop one up for 400ish.

Not expecting too much interest here, but if you are I will post and/or send some pictures.

While karting at Summit Point yesterday Evan and I were talking about the prospect of racing rotax or shifter karts. The 4 stroke rental karts are fun, but racing something with 30 hp instead of 5.5 would be far more engaging (and exhausting).

So I've been looking up some info on the current fast kart options within a reasonable drive. Here are some things I came up with:

New Jersey Motorsports Park has a sprint kart racing series with rotax and shifter classes:

-entry fees are under $100 for the weekend
-fields are 15+ karts
-6 weekends a year
-purpose built kart track
-open practice is $40 a day during the week, $65 on weekend

Oakland Valley Race Park in NY
-5 hours away from NOVA
-Can rent Rotax karts

VIR Kart Track
-open lapping days for sprint karts (run what you brung) on Sundays (8am-12pm)

So I figure a decent sprint kart setup would cost about $3500-5000. No need for a trailer, one could easily transport the kart in a SUV, truck, or minivan. If a couple of people pooled resources we could easily swing a kart, and it wouldn't be a challenge finding a place to park it, or getting a trailer to transport it. Call it a kartshare.

Let's say 5 people buy in. Each person would pay approx $800. We divy up the weekends/weekdays and schedule someone wants to drive. We could easily get 3-5 weekends per person and probably unlimited weekdays. At a practice day people could probably alternate driving sessions since realistically no one is gonna be able to drive at full tilt for more than maybe 2 hours over the course of a day.

$800 is about 2 track weekends in car not counting consumables. Once we buy in for $800, we could keep using the kart for at least another season, so really it'd only be $400/year.

Now there are details that would have to get worked out like who pays for tires and maintenance, who does the wrenching and how we pay for damage. But I have to think it would be pretty fucking badass. What say you?

My car is for sale. I would not hesitate to sell it to a MMember. Has been perfect aside from an issue or two inside warranty/over a year ago/15k miles ago). Fly out and drive her back. Summaahhhhtiiiiime!
