Well I finally got my air compressor up and running!
The story behind it is, about a year and a half ago a guy posted on nasioc that he was giving away a free air compressor. So I picked it up, it was a nice pro quality Campbell Hausfeld 5hp 25 gallon that had never been used, but the switch/regulator had been broken. It had been sitting in a warehouse for a year or so because it was broken.
As soon as I got it home, I looked up the parts schematics for the parts I would need, and placed the order to the tune of about $60. As luck would have it, the parts schematics were wrong and they sent me the wrong switch, and the unloader valve was of a different design and wouldnt connect to the line on the canister. So that made me lazy enough to forget about it for a year or so.
Now that I have an impending need for a new engine in the miata, I thought it would be a good idea to get it operational. A week and a half of (frustrating) emails to CH tech support and it is now fully operational.
So far I have a 3/8" air rachet from harbor freight, small 3/8" impact gun to fit into tight places from harbor freight (that has impressed me for its low price) and the crown jewel, an IR 2131 600 ft.lb 1/2" impact gun.

everyone always says they buy a cheap gun first, then get a good IR when the cheap one breaks. I hate buying things twice so I went straight to the good gun. This was last years top IR model, which has been replaced by the titanium gun, so I got it for about 1/2 off list on ebay. Unfortunately the gun may be broken (just got it today) the air fitting on the bottom of the gun is loose and will not tighten and it pukes air, so something inside may be stripped. Hopefully its nothign, and I hope I didnt get scammed on ebay with a busted gun!
other than that I have the usual air chuck, blow gun (insert maeng's mom joke here) and I also have a cutoff tool, a Filter/Lubricator, and a hose reel coming in the mail. tangled hose sucks!

Anyone in nova want to go to fairfax TC on friday? Its where all the capitol area dubs/german cars meet on fridays. Im goin up with billy in our G60s, wanted to see if any of you other ones are down for going. Usually its a good share of 240s, evos, 40 or so VWs and a ton of other nice rides. We all just hang out in the garage for a bit, then roll somewhere for food/beer afterwards.
Just thought Id throw it out there.

Im not sure what its like in the states, but in europe people who race cars and bikers dont get along at all... bikers argue that cars lack thrill and risk and entail a lot more skill and adaptation to surroundings... most racers have this negatuve view that buying a bike is like putting a down payment on a coffin... I cant really drive bikes other than atv's and mt5's, but i have to agree that theres a lot more thrill involved... bikers also argue that theres more talent required (reflexes, study of physical movments blah blha blah... any thoughts ????

The ad
I think it's amazing you can pick these cars up for 40k now. A used E46 with low mileage seems like a great value at that price. What are you guys n gals thoughts on the E46 M3? What car would you rather have for 40k as a DD?
FYI. this is not in the FS section because I'm not selling it nor promoting it. just drooling over it....

So I've got the opportunity to get some amsoil and accessories for ass-cheap. Anyone know anything about it? I've heard all kinds of things, mostly that it's "really cheap, really good oil".
But anyone have any experience with it?

Hey guys, I'm from Tech's car club... Since JMU is on the way to Tech I thought I'd put the offer out here as well...
I have to goto Tech tonight for my speeding ticket... court tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone else wanted to head down with me....Trying to make the drive a little more interesting. I have court at 8:30... so if you need to be back in NOVA early on thursday, we can leave right after court (should be done by 10 at the latest I would think).
There will be a place you can sleep, if you need one. I'll be coming back Thursday mid-afternoon. I'll be taking a 4Runner, so if you want to move some stuff down to your apartment or something, I'll have room.
I live in Fairfax City - Looking to leave around 8 tonight or before. Just chip in for gas is all I ask or bring some food.
Call my cell - 703-966-0646
Thanks,
Patrick
