  Finally taking the MSF course!
Posted by: JohnC - 08-02-2004, 10:52 AM - Forum: Motorcycles - Replies (23)

Woot. Just registered and paid for the Sept. 10-12 MSF course w/ Albemarle County. My father-in-law just bought a Harley (but didn't have a license), so we're gonna go through the course together. Any comments/advice from those who have already taken it?

  NASA credits for sale
Posted by: Kaan - 08-02-2004, 09:04 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (14)

Well my motor blew up and i'm not sure if i'll be back on track with the replacement motor this year. Mostly because i dont know whats going on with it, which motor i'll end up with and the reliability of it.

I'll also have to email laura to see how this really works.... BUT i have 4 full weekends i'm willing to sell to someone or someones. online it says $299 for a weekend but i'm not going to pull that price, its just not fair, so shoot me a price. its fair to you guys cause you shouldnt have to pay full for someone else credits and i'll need the floating cash to get the ball rolling. RJ let me know if i can put this up in the roadrace forum on HT... thanks!

You thought You wanted to die that night...
Posted by: 83Rabbit - 07-30-2004, 01:26 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (4)

heres my ordeal from a few weeks ago taken from my post on vortex.
All matters have since been solved... But I wanted to die that night too, i know what ya mean. Rain sucks.

"I had the WORST night last night/this morning.
Ok, to start off, Ive never driven my car long distances in hard rain before, its never given me any issues ever aside from the power stearing sometimes feeling like its going out when its wet out.

Well last nigth I was cruising down 95 towards richmond in a torrential downpour and I think to myself "hhhmmm" i wonder what my oil temps are, start clicking away at the MAF and WOW! My coolant temp is rising fast over 230 I turn the car off and roll to a stop under a bridge on the side of the highway to let it cool off. I look under my hood and shake the resevior to check the coolant level and OH LOOK, the thingy to tell me its low didnt have a good connection. I plug it in and low and behold, I need more coolant.

After its cooled off I try to make it to the next exit. Thats a no go, I turned the car off before it hit 230 and coasted to a stop. Its now 11:40 Time for a hike.

Without ANY clue of where the next exit is I take off on a walk to find coolant. 2 miles later I find a wa-wa and buy 2 gallons of coolant and start the walk back. By the time I get to my car Im tired, pissed, and soaking wet.

I pop the top and fill it up with a little coolant since it was a little low and start the car with the top off and heater on to make sure the water pump is running, everything works fine and she holds a constant temp and idle for 10 min.

Time to start driving again. I start off and am good for about 10 miles till I hit a HUGE part of the storm with water everywhere.... Begins to overheat again. Im now waiting for the roomie to come drive back with me and the rain to subside as Im 40 miles from home. She comes and we go to the gas station because shes low on gas (this is where it gets good).

We hit back on 95 and as Im monitoring my coolant temp I glance over at my gas guage. HOLY CRAP! IM LOW ON FUEL TOO! better get some at the next exit.... next exit..... where is the next exit? sputter sputter sputter.... Great, I just ran out of Gas
Get a ride to the gas station buy a 2 gal thing, fill it up, go back to my car in the downpour and fill the tank up with it, drive up to the gas station and fill the car up. By this time the rain has stopped and the overheating problem is gone. (It was caused by my power steering pump pulley and water pump pulley slipping).
As Im on the entrance to 95, my car begins to hate me for the hours of lights and hazards that it was on for and starts to dim its lights and sputter..... HELL NO B*TCH! I floor it in second and take off down 95. Finally made the rest of the trip home without a problem as the rain was gone.

Guess its time to get some new belts and adjust their tension. And to think... The whole trip was made to get me an ECU for her... this is how she treats me
TIME OUT missy, TIME OUT!@

  Another ticket...

I fucking swear... In the past, yeah I've been guilty, I admit guilt and I get over it.. But tonight... ohhhhh tonight I was so innocent I'm really angry about it.

So I realize I'm on E. Having a pretty long drive tomorrow I decide I'll take a route I normally don't take and hit an Exxon station I normally never visit.

What I saw...

I'm heading west on Route 50 and see the Exxon in the distance, it looks like the access road connects to it, so I turn at the light, when I get to the end of the access road I realize there is a small barrier blocking my entrance to the Exxon so I'm forced to make a left back on to 50 and another right in to Exxon about 5 feet later.

Cop pulls me over, asks me if I knew what I did and I said I know what it probably looked like now that he has stopped me, but it honestly looked like the road went straight in to the Exxon. He agrees, sees that my gas gauge is on (or below) E... He asks me about the racing I do, we talk for a minute about that, and he heads back to his car. I assume he's just checking that I own the car but no... He comes back with a ticket for evasion of a control device. I make a final plea that it is obvious I made a mistake and needed gas but he just tells me he pulls people over doing the same thing all day and they say the same thing.. bleh, whatever.

Gas Gauge that officer asked to see and verified that I did need gas...

I'm looking at $60 court fee, $50 fine and 3 points... Having just been charged with a reckless I really don't need the points... Now it seems it's his word against mine... Hopefully the pics will help, but I fear the worst. Our judicial system blows my left nut. I lose either way even though I'm 100% innocent.
