I'm looking into my current insurance plan (state farm) and really would like to find a way to have my car covered for HPDE events. I wrote to Chris Cobetto, heres what he said:


"Most policies allow for recovery if something happens during a "school"
which is what the HPDE is. As long as it is not a timed competition they
normally will take care of you. You have to read your policy carefully
though. I don't know of any company that insures track cars specifically
though.

Shop insurance companies but you may want to keep you extracuricluar
activites to yourself. Check out the fine print and go with the insurance
co. that doesn't specifically mention track events."



Does anyone know of a way driving schools can be covered?

Although this is the forum of a company that specifically deals in Subaru tuning, I've found this FAQ in the WRX section to be VERY useful for a variety of questions. It even includes some interesting information about questionable/dangerous mods, double-clutching, launching AWD cars, etc etc.

I own a 2004 stage 2 WRX, mods and all that are in my profile. Unfortunately, I'm driving it back up to our townhouse in northern VA today because some drunk asshole keyed it last weekend. ALL the way around the car, hitting almost every panel. I had it fixed, paying the insurance deductible out of my pocket. I don't really want to have to deal with that again, so I'm bringing an old beater subaru station wagon we have at home heh. Besides, winter is coming and students in this town SUCK at driving in the snow.

Scott told me I should join the club even though I won't have my WRX down here full time. I just might, it would be fun to chill with some more people that have the same passion for cars that I do. It's always good to learn something new too =p

The point of these presentations is to give some factual info. about your car (or a car you know a lot about) so we can all learn something. I'd start it out from the beginning of the model year to its current status.

Ok, i promised the chica that I would get her a gaming system, and it benefits me because I can load up on racing games. So which is better? what are the pros/cons of each system?

Now first off, Im not a big fan of arcadey style racing games. I live and breathe Ferrari F355 Challenge, I have a momo wheel on my PC, am bored by the "Rush" ,"Cruisin'" and anything with a "turbo" button, and I even find the Gran Tourismo series to be way too arcadey.

Which is why I couldnt understand why I had so much fun playing Burnout 3 at a buddy's house the other night.

I wont rehash what is already in the ign review, but in short, the controls are surprisingly tight, especially for an arcade racer, the "drifting" is challenging and rewarding when you get it right, the wrecks are simply amazing, and the multiple game modes are an absolute blast. Oh, and the graphics (on xbox) put every other racing game to shame. ever.

I would highly recommend buying, renting, stealing, burning, etc Burnout 3
