  Help with car pull
Posted by: mpg9999 - 01-16-2005, 10:17 PM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (8)

Problem: Car pulls to the left. Steering wheel is also off center to go straight down the road. Been like this for a very long time.

Alignment settings (Left/Right), Front:
Caster: .2 / 1.2
Camber: -1.0 / -1.4
Toe: 1/32" / 1/32"
Total Toe: 1/16"

Rear:
Camber: -1.1 / -1.4
Toe: 0" / 0"

Thrust Angle: 0.0

Relavent history: Hit a curb about 2 years ago. It was the front left wheel. It hit hard enough to puncture the tires side wall, but it didnt hit that fast.

It just so happens that on the wheel that hit, the caster is not as positive as it should be. So then the question is what is causing the caster to be off. It has been suggested that it could be a bent control arm, or a bent cross member (Where the control arm attatches). How am I supposed to find out what is bent?

It has also been suggested that the difference in camber between right and left could cause it to pull. Any help would be appreciated.

My front speakers were blown so crutchfield didn't hook the front speaker wires up. I'm trying to do it now, but i'm not getting battery voltage out of the wires. What could be the problem? The preludes front speaker wire power both tweeters and front speakers and the tweeters work. so what's the problem? Of course i bought new speakers. Anyone got any ideas?

Jason Hunt to Replace Lisa Kubo
Posted by: KPWSerpiente - 01-14-2005, 05:55 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (9)

*Cliffs at bottom*

This isn't really going to mean a damn thing to anyone on this board, with the exception of Jack and Gregg.

Basically, while the three of us were at the MachV/Ultimate Dyno I kept wondering who the guy is that was strapping the cars in and who was running them on the dyno. After the sessions I learned that A: his name was Jason and B: he has been running two fast hondas (9 second crx and 10 second eg coupe) for many years. Our conversation was much longer but that is the crucial bit.

Well the reason I wondered who he was is because I'm familiar with the owners and almost all of the people who work at this shop, and I'd never seen him before.

Fast forward to the next day, where, like the ricer I am, I'm reading Modified Magazine. Lo and behold, the advertisement for Justice Race Engines in Fredrick, Md reads

jason hunt
car doctor performance team
9.54 @ 153 mph

with a picture of his car below it. Well now you don't have to be a genius like myself to put together the idea that the guy who I met at Ultimate the day beforethat was Jason Hunt ...the number of 9 second CRX drivers named Jason in this area is not very large.

Fast forward to today, the 14th of January. I'm checking my email, and this subject line from one of my capitol area dsm emails jumps out at me: "Jason Hunt to drive for Saturn Motorsports"

So I open it up and learn that Jason Hunt (picture included to seal the fact that he was the guy I met) will be replacing Lisa Kubo in the Saturn Motorsports Pro FWD car...first FWD car into the 7's and probably the first FWD car to hit the 200 mph mark. Well, what does this mean?

It means that Gregg and Jack had the rare oppurtunity to talk about and receive advice about their cars from a pro sport compact drag racer...who is probably going to be the first fwd driver to trap over 200 miles per hour. And none of us even knew it...until after the fact.

*CLIFFS*
Through a interesting series of coincidences I piece together the fact that Gregg and Jack had their cars dynoed by Jason Hunt, the new driver of Lisa Kubo's 7 second Saturn pro FWD drag car.

Dear Virginia NMA Member,

There has never been an opportunity like this before! We actually have a chance to ban red light cameras in Virginia.

As of right now, the use of red light cameras (RLCs) faces a time limit of July 2005. If no new legislation is passed to allow cameras to be used beyond that date, they will be taken down.

Delegate Robert Tata recently introduced legislation to keep the cameras up. If you want to eliminate RLCs from Virginia, now is the time to act!

TataÔÇÖs proposal, HB 1558, has been sent to the Committee on Militia, Police, and Public Safety. Please take the time to contact your Delegate and the Delegates on this committee, and ask them to oppose this bill.

For the contact information of your legislator, please visit <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://legis.state.va.us/">http://legis.state.va.us/</a><!-- m -->.

For the contact information of the members of the Committee on Militia, Police, and Public Safety, please visit <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://tinyurl.com/5cdte">http://tinyurl.com/5cdte</a><!-- m -->.

Why should RLCs be opposed? Here are just a few reasons:

Studies show that cameras actually increase the number of crashes at the intersection. This isnÔÇÖt limited to only rear-end collisions, but all types.
RLCs have no proven safety benefit.
Proven engineering techniques (such as longer yellow light times, larger and brighter lights, larger sun-blockers, and better lane division) are ignored in favor of the cameras. The reasoning is that engineering costs money, while cameras make millions in ticket fines.
More information on the problems with RLCs as well as suggested solutions for the problem of red light violations, please visit <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.motorists.org/issues/enforce/index.html">www.motorists.org/issues/enforce/index.html</a><!-- w -->.

If you have any questions regarding this issue or specifically HB 1558, donÔÇÖt hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your help.

  good start to a day

I just sat through an entire red light with a cop behind me, staring at my expired ass VA tags off god knows what car with only one working brake light. I was just waiting for the blue lights.... nope! I got pulled over about 6 mo ago and set free for not having a working tag light on my other 318, and this is the first time I've even had a cop behind me since then.

Have a cop free day all! 8)
