We usually do a poll for these but id love to see more of a list of who is attending, what car, and in what group/working where? I know Maeng said he would be there, and after that last event Jake may be on Ramen just to drive this event as well. I will be driving, but I know that usual NASA stuff will be depleted for that weekend as there is no racing. Can we expect to see our usual MM staff? (calling out Kaan/Rex/Julie/Allison/Peter/Matt/etc?)
Im also starting a list so that people dont have to bring multiple items of the same thing (that is available for everybody to use) and maybe a wish list? :dunno: I will also be buying an electrical spot if anybody wants to pitch in an use it as well. (20 for the weekend so throw me 10 bucks if its only one person or 5 bucks if multiple people).
Attending:
1. Don Fitzpatrick (1999 White M3 #168 HPDE3/TT)
2. Pete Denbigh (ballin' XR4Ti HPDE 3)
3. Jake Thiewes (Rawr Miata HPDE 1)
4. Peter Tyson (M3 Monstar HPDE 2) (Tentative)
5. David Goodspeed (Miatarrrr Hyperdrive)
6. Maeng (Hes running a honda 2000, I bet theres a hundred grand under the hood. HPDE 4)
7. Channing (Power-raging Ti, HPDE 4)
8. Rex (working that tech shed yo, yes im bored trying to avoid work right now)
9. Julie (chilling)
10. Sean (Frankene30 HPDE 3)
Bringing
1. Low-Profile Jack
2. Simple set of Tools
3. 1/2 Torque Wrench with 18MM socket
4.10x10 Canopy
5. Air Tank
6. Cooler with tons of water
7. GoProHD and my laptop so that we can film a lot
8. Extra camera mount with standard bolt fitting that goes into most bottom of cameras.
9. Tarp
Wish List:
1. Grill with charcoal or whatever to run it
2. Boombox (ill have electricity), something with more than just an ipod dock, otherwise ill bring my boombox but somebody has to bring cds LP

I'm gonna try and make this event. I'd be in HPDE 1 again, hopefully move to 2 after this.
Will there by Hyperdrives? There was some interest there from other MM students since it's a lot easier to afford.

I guess I have to do all your leg work. Yes, YES there will be hypderdrives. Jake, did you talk with your instructor about group 2? You have a good amount of autocross experience, and you were soloed in HPDE 1. I never advise moving fast up, but HPDE 2 really allows more focus on driving while being in the same HPDE 1 ruleset. HPDE 1 and 2 are fairly similiar except less "REAL newbs" in 2 than 1. From there, dont step up to HPDE 3 for a long while, it really is a whole new level of fast cars,(and people finally know how to drive them). And the likelihood of balling up your car is much higher in 3 as there is a lot more going on.

She suggested that I do one more day of DE1 if at VIR, or another weekend of DE1 if at Summit. My logbook is marked all 1's, save for "smooth turn-in and out" and "throttle at exit" which are 2's. Also 2's for "run-off areas" and "drive-off situations" - which we didn't discuss a whole lot, and those are different track-to-track.
Am I correct in saying that I can place myself in DE2 even if it's recommended that I stay in 1? I can always talk to Carrie again to make sure I'm getting her point of view correct.
I'll mention Hyperdrives to people. $50 is not much when you consider an autocross is typically $25-35.

She is right and probably 100% right, instructors go through good training and typically know where your at. I would stay in HPDE 1 if I were you as its a different track as well. Im sure because its only an HPDE weekend it wouldnt be a huge deal to throw you in HPDE 2 halfway through the weekend if she doesnt have an hpde 2 student.

I'm on the fence on this one. Not sure if I want to do TT or not, but it would be fun to sign up for HPDE4 and give my wife and a couple friends who have helped me along the way some track ride alongs.
Of course if I keep it on street tires my red Miata might slot into TTF.....

Have you done HPDE 2 at Summit before? Then just do that. I was retarded and never kept my logbook around and consistently lost it.

Jake, if your instructor said you should stay in group 1 for Summit, I'd probably just sign up for group 1 and not worry about group 2. If you plan on moving from group 1 on Saturday to group 2 on Sunday, I'm pretty sure that you can only do that with special permission since that messes with registration and instructor assignments. It can be done, but make sure its all good with everyone instead of just assuming its going to happen.

That's what I was thinking. It's a new track to me and I don't want to jump the gun with confidence. Plus, I'll finish the weekend having two full DE1 weekends completed, and could move up to 2 without giving the nice people in registration a headache.
