This morning, on my way to work, i was 3 car lengths behind an SUV. as we crested a blind hill, the SUV swerved... i hit the brakes. It was a reaction, i couldnt see what was on the other side. as i got to the top of the hill on one wheel i saw another SUV, stopped... a School bus had backed up 40 cars or so.
I knew i wouldnt stop in time... so i jumped off the bike. my bike (500lbs of love) crashed into a Jeep. I rolled on the ground. my helmet it in one area, my right arm (in the jacket) took the punishment.
But I ended up with a ticket for "failure to give full time and attention" and a broken bone in my foot.
Ride safe boys! i'll be back in the saddle in 3-4 weeks.

Sorry, Kaan. It happens, it's just a bummer that your insurance will have to get involved, and the ticket. I can't talk down, though, and I won't, it's happened to me before, too.

For the record, the ticket is bullshit. Even the DMV admits it's just a revenue generation ticket. I'd take it to court, see what happens, if you can get the day off.

Since its a blind rise you could take some pictures and point out that even with a safe following distance and speed you never would have seen it untill it was too late. Probably wouldn't matter but you never know.

sad part is... as matt hinted to... if i would have boots on, i wouldnt have broke my foot where i did. I would have walked away and just been sore. chalk it up to being cheap or lazy... i was only geared from the waste up.

Sorry, I had to. Like you said, it's only a matter of time, but 13 years is a damn good run and it sounds like it could have been a lot worse. Hopefully it'll be another 13 years for you and we all wish you a speedy recovery.
Sounds like it was one of those gotcha situations that was very hard to foresee or avoid. That said, I'll be much more careful coming up to blind rises like that because of this.
Well, a broken foot is relatively minor in the scheme of things. Could've been a lot worse, glad you got away lucky.

don't. i did it, they raised the price by over a hundred dollars. and that was after the cop didn't show up and neglected to tell me, and then they rescheduled. They're dicks about that particular ticket. just pay it. it's not worth the aggravation. pictures won't help either.
