combat zone?

Well I thought I'd let MM know that fairly soon I'll deploying to a sandier locale to do what it is I do for the United States Air Force. I obviously can't draw you out a map but I'm sure you guys are aware of a few places where we're carrying out operations.

This is very exciting for me; as you can imagine I didn't put my degree on hold and join the USAF to sit around Nebraska.

Getting combat mission qualified and flying missions is what I want to do for the remainder of my time in and I'm glad to get a start on that now.

Anyway, I'll still be in the states for at least all of September as I prepare to head over.

LOL, you're aware that the USAF is like, 1% "people who might fly a plane" and 99% support personnel? Travis is (if I'm not mistaken) going to be flying what's called a "Translator".

You are mistaken. It is the RC-135w/v known as the Rivet Joint.

Back from the dead!

I've been in theatre two weeks and have just completed my first air combat mission. Wish I could say more than it was pretty cool, but that is all I've got for you. That and the fact that when you see F-16s are operating within 20 nm of you armed with sidewinders and precision munitions you know they aren't doing it for a simple show of force.
