Lotus unveils the new Evora
#1
Looks pretty sick to me. All the good stuff of the Elise with less crazy styling. I'm a bit puzzled by the 2+2 seating. Why bother?

I beleive in Car and Driver they say explicity that this is NOT a replacement for the esprit, it is just an expansion to their line.

I certainly hope they are right! I dont like that this next generation corvette has rumors of a smaller v8.

No kidding. Lotus DID design the chassis for the Tesla though. Guess they liked what they did?

Lotus also likes the roofline/side windows and lights of the Koenigsegg...

Kind of like the 500 was NOT a replacement for the Taurus, except oh yeah it was?

They've been putzing around with this freakin' Esprit replacement, get on with it already I'm losing interest.

You do realize that Lotus has been producing the Europe-only Europa since 2006 right?

I'd imagine this Evora is a replacement for this, and not a half-assed Esprit.

A Chevy-Powered 200hp car, while a fitting tribute to the original Esprit, I suppose, is hardly a fitting replacement for a twin turbo flat crank V8 supercar.

The Europa is (get this!) a tribute to the old...Lotus Europa! dundundunnnn

Wat? I'm saying, the Evora looks to me to be a replacement/evolution of the current Europa, and has nothing to do with the Esprit, now or ever.

I know about the old Europa (weirdest looking car ever). Theres a John Player edition Europa in Arlington that just sits in front of a shop.

Uh, so we agree.

Proton needs to not be fucking with this stuff anymore and make the Esprit already.

another good article on it...

A little more DD friendly than an elise, the interior looks great.
It's about 210 hp per ton. Which is lower than an Elise SC... Sad
I am really looking forward to a new Espirit if it ever happens

Except rumors are speculating from Lotus that their next esprit has a bmw-derived 4.4 liter twin turbo v8.
