You can now put me in the category of bikers that have crashed. I won't be able to give you many details due to the fact I hit my head so hard on the pavement I don't remember the crash at all. What I can tell you, it happened on Sat the 6th, that wonderful 70 degree January day. I had gone out riding with a few friends in the morning in western VA. We broke for lunch and on the way back some of us split off to finish the ride while the rest got on 66 to head back to NoVA.
I was with some fairly quick riders, but I wasn't pushing it to keep up with them (all three are good friends of mine) because I knew they would wait for me at the next stop sign. I was coming around a nice right hander and that's the last I remember before standing around with my buddy Craig and Andrew. The bike was on it's kick stand on the side of the road and the two of them were talking to me as if it were any other day just enjoying the weather.
I had no memory of the wreck, my friends coming back for me, the other biker who had stopped to check on me, my buddy Liam going back to get his truck for me and me bike, none of it.
A Loudon county sheriff showed up and checked on us. Thankfully he didn't write anything up, but he did ask if I/we needed anything from "them".
Liam showed up with his ridgeline, and they got my bike loaded up. On the way to the hospital I started to make calls to see if anyone wanted my Caps tickets for the night, but there was no-one who could make it. At the ER they confirmed what was plainly obvious, I broke my right collar bone.
The bike itself isn't in that bad of shape. Upper, fairing stay, and Windscreen are all that need replacing. The right side rearset is a lil bent but not that bad.
Thanks to Liam, Craig, and Andrew for all their help, and RJ for showing up at the ER.

Jesus dude, glad you are alright. Any guesses on what happened, conditions wise?

Damn dude, you must have gone down hard. Glad you are "ok". I'm sure you'll not miss a few brain cells anyhow. Might make life more fun.
Glad the bike is repairable too.

So nobody else has been able to fill in the information about the crash? Also, how fast were you going?
Sorry to hear about the crash, but it sounds like you're going to be ok. Every time you ever see a thread about someone not wearing a helmet you should post the picture of yours and them ask them if they want those scratches on their head instead

I just probably went in too hot and lost it near the edge of the road (based on the minimal damage to the bike, my gear and me). I really wish I remembered anything so I could confirm this and learn from what I did wrong.

No shit, I mean, you hit your head hard enough to not remember the crash, and you were protected by a helmet. If that isn't a good enough reason to wear a helmet I can't think of a better one.

How's that one handed keyboard thing going?
Glad you're still up and about. Oh, and really you didn't ruin our ride
*edit*
Matt was the last in a group of 4, directly behind me. He wasn't in anybody's field of vision. One second he was there, the next second not. We don't really have anything but speculation to run off of.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

I wasn't going the speed limit, but I don't push it too much on the street, so maybe 60ish???

The inside of the helmet actually has a compression lump in the EPS. He hit his head pretty hard.

it seems like you ended up the exact opposite of me so tell me... would you rather have a broken collarbone or $2k in hard to find parts to fix? i honestly don't know at this point which i would rather... gald you're "ok" and the bike isn't going to require much work.

Well... I mean, it'd probably take me longer to save up $2,000 worth of play money than than it would to heal up a collar bone. Provided I had good health insurance I'd probably take the break, assuming the bike had less than $100 worth of damage. Matt's bike certainly sustained a lot more than that.

Looks to be just under $1000 worth of damage.
