I know I sound like a mom, but for a street car (mainly) don't you want to keep the airbag steering wheel?

280 is tiny.
mine is 320 and about as small as I would ever go on a street car.
280 is usually meant for formula cars.
thanx for the input guys, i didn't realize how small it actually was in person. But i am looking into replacing the steering wheel of a bus i have in the car right now.
Any ideas? i know RJ was talking about the CTR SRS 3-spoke at the show when i got a chance to mention it to him.
I've also researched the s2k steering wheel. I am concerned about the air bag, but not greatly. Possible sizes? 330mm, 320mm? I've driven the rsx-s and i like that steering wheel size.
The 'JDM' ITR/CTR wheels are 350mm. Thats as small as I'd go... the SRS JDM wheels are 383mm, I believe, which is only slightly smaller than the one in my car.

unless you have 5-6pt's and a roll cage I would keep the airbag dude

I don't understand the big deal about airbags. People drove in cars without airbags for a gazillion years, and from what I've found as long as you wear a seatbelt you're pretty much equally protected. Heck, I drove around without an airbag until just this past year. I was even in a serious head-on collision without an airbag and I was totally fine.
You should not however, you will fail inspection if you take an airbag out of your car...

alright, i know this is crude, and i'm not sure if it's how you measure the steering wheel, but i just took a ruler to the wheel and it's about 380mm in dia.
Air bags for safety i'm not too concerned about it, i drive around an '86 vw gti up in northern virginia and it doesn't have air bags. The only concern i had was with inspection when that came around, but i figure i can just put the stock one back on if that were the case.
Plans for the car will be to turn it into a track car after graduation, when i can also afford a place of my own and possibly a second car (long time from now), but i do like the feel of a smaller steering wheel after driving the rsx-s. Thanx for all the info though, keep'em coming.

If it's a pretty good package, then why do we not see any at the track?

Airbags suck. I have to agree with my dad on this one to some degree, "I feel like I have a loaded gun pointed at my head the whole time I'm driving". I (and he) have gotten used to it, but I'm glad I don't have one. Now the ones that are coming in cars these days are better.... they often have extra sensors and do a better job of not breaking your face and burning you, but the first gen airbags that were designed to stop a 300lb dumbass without a seatbelt on scare me. :?
Me and Evan had this argument last week.
For me, for track use, they will be out of the car. With 6 point belts, race buckets and a rollbar I think they have the potential to do more harm than good - you're restraining the body in a way other then the factory designed.
For street use... the airbag in my Accord will stay in. I dont care for things exploding in front of my face <insert obvious facial joke> but I think for a street car they can save you from injury. There were only 160 deaths documented by the NHTSA from '90-'00 due to Airbags... not many, especially when compared to the number of total automobile accident fatalities in that time period.
