Guys,
Here's the email from a group I'm with:
Quote:"Hello all,
I still have my Xr's for sale, 1 86, 2 87's , 1 88. I
have reduced the price on these cars I will take $300
a peice or $1000 for all. This of course is
negotiable as I have 7 days before they go to the
junkyard. These cars are being sold as parts cars as
I do not have titles to all. all cars are complete but
all have various mechanical issues. Some cars have
unique one of a kind parts. These cars will go to the
junkyard at the end of this week due to a county
ordinance. Also my wife and I are expecting our 1st
child and we really need the money.
please if you are interested respond by Wed. or Thurs.
Fri. I will call the junk yard to tow them away.
Again they are being sold as parts cars so please do
not ask me for titles to restore these cars to road
worthy condition. I do have titles for some but not
all. and will locate them as soon as I can.
thanks
Rick Cabaniss
If anyone is interested let me know.

heh, that would be a pretty quick ride, if you built it right. I dunno about ford blocks, but you can take a small chevy v8 and mod it for very cheap to go very fast...maybe even stroke one out

302 goes to 347 pretty cheap, V8+IRS+Stripped out = Effing cheap.
If we had a grand, I'd say MM should buy them ALL, part them out, and have one killer car.
But we don't have a grand. We need 20 people to contribute 50 bucks. Anyone else in? It would certainly kick ass. We could come in so far under the 2006 budget it would be rediculous.
Pete, if one of them has a title, and he can provide us with the title, it might actually be a good GRM car. Surely we can get the 10 or 12 of us to donate 30 bucks apeice.

sounds like a wicked deal.....i'd donate 50 in a hot second!
Scotty + Me -- That's 1/3 of a car...anyone else?
Pete, email the guy and see if there's a bottom line. Tell him what we're doing.
If we could score a couple of XR's for cheap, I think that most of the club would be behind them. It's a nice, RWD, IRS platform, that is ugly as shit.
1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442
I'd be willing to donate $50 to make that happen. That would make one unique challenge car indeed.

the club has a decent amount of money... don't have the exact amount right now but I can check.
Where would we keep these cars?

I agree. If the club wants to do this, they need to commit not only to wrench, but also to fundraise.
That said, this is a pretty good opportunity, esp if the guy says "Oh, my old cars will be raced? Ok, you can have them for $$XXX"
BUt it looks like we just raised 200 bucks...any OG's/Alumni/People with jobs want to buy a share in the GRM car(s)?
1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442
Hrmm, I'd be down for wrenching..dont really have the money laying around, as Ive just spent a wad on my own ride. is the GRM challenge more of a drag strip contest, or overall?

That's 600 dollars.
We can seriously get this thing off the ground, 400 more dollars and we can get all four. Surely we can get a solid running car from 4 cars...furthermore, the guy may take less than 1000 if Pete turns on the Charm...
edit: it also may be interesting to note that an XR hasn't made an appearance at a 200X challenge since 2003....where it finished 21/65 overall...
