air tools - are they worth it..?

Well I could get a pretty sweet deal [ i think ] on a compressor and gun from a friend, he's just in desperate need of money so I thought I'd take advantage of him for it..

Just really wondering, is it really worth it? I do my car work myself, and have a decent amount of hand tools..

but $220 for this..

30 Gal, 6 HP

And he's also including an Ingersol-Rand Impact Gun..

whatcha guys think?

$220 isnt a fantabulous deal on that, depending on which IR model gun

Good lord, if I didn't have air I probably wouldn't work on a car. Makes things SOOOO nice. I use air for EVERYTHING. I got a deal @ sears on a brand new (last years model) 30 gal 5hp OILED craftsman pro compressor for $180. Fucker runs like a champ!

What's faster, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, etc

or, pull trigger, wruzzzmp, ping, ping, ping (sound of the nut hitting the ground)?

Air rocks man, use it once, and you will never turn back.

I love the Snap On air tools I have access to. Certainly makes rusted exhaust bolts and the like much easier to get out.
However, I am not sure if that is the best deal on the compressor.
Good luck

if it is a small or quick job air can be slower due to the setup time

don't run it at uberpsi and you won't snap things... or as ryan said, operator error!

Yeah, thats true. Air tools are definatley worth it though. Alof of it comes down to how you have your air tools set up. It's alow easier with a garage, which I dont have. My compressor is in the back, and we run an air line to the front of the house. Then, when we need air tools, we have another air line on a spool that attatches to this mount around front and plugs into the other air line. With it set up like that, it doesnt take to long to set everything up.

Generally you will run the gun at whatever pressure the manufacteror says, and then adjust the seting on the gun (if it has setings).

the gun at my old place didn't have an adjuster, i had to adjust the output of the compressor instead.
