I think it's a shame that commuting is going to taint your experience with bikes since there's more to be had. No possibility of having one and just not commuting a la hatch?

Call me selfish but I think the more the merrier when it comes with this kinda stuff. I mean I may be wrong but isn't the reason you know most of the people here because of cars (and bikes)? I know tracking and bikes are the be-all end-all of hobbies but it's the reason most of us know each other. Ultimately everyone has to do their own thing, it's just a shame to see you drift away from the stuff we all like to do.

cars - i have reached the end of what i can afford. i could do track days or instruct, but i haven't felt like i was really learning much my past few weekends. i'd like to race, but it just isn't a good financial decision at my age.
bikes - mainly wanted one to save on gas (commute). since there are a billion idiots on the road at that time, that doesn't really work out (as i have found). i do not feel comfortable tracking a bike.
i've gotten back in to running, met a nice girl, pretty much stopped my partying habits, play very few video games, read a lot, spend free time getting better at my job (learning new things, reading books, etc)... i guess i'm just growing up and looking towards the future (house, family, etc). i still get to drive a sports car to work today; all is not lost.

Wow - I just checked up on this thread for the first time in a while.
I'm sorry to hear that you're not comfortable with the risk level of street riding, Mike, but I completely respect your evaluation. It's always going to be something only borderline rational anyways, and you're at the point in the learning curve that, I think, really makes riding the most dangerous. I saw the bike in the garage yesterday without the plastics on it, and man, it would make a mean streetfigher! *nudge nudge*
Good luck with whatever direction the rebuild takes. If you do decide to sell it you shouldn't have a problem with such a great bike. It'll be a shame not to be able to go riding with you, though.
Oh right, and glad that you're healed up good!
