Yeahhhh baby... one of the backside
Bling bling yo! I'm a happy man.
Oh, I also got some cool tools I wanted to share. I've got this thing for nice hammers... so I dropped $160 on Snap-On bling.

The ball-pene set and the one deadblow. I've had the other 3 for awhile.
And this handy dandy Snap-On prybar holder. I had no idea it was big enough to store ALL my screwdrivers, saved me a ton of space...for only $35!!!

hey thats pretty cool, wonder if craftsman makes em???
Wow beautiful, this thing is going to be spectacular. I also like the tool setup, I wish I could have something like that. When are you thinking that your going to get the block in? And did you ever decide on those wheels?

Justin- The side box is actually part of a Blue Point cart. He had to order it as a "replacement part" and it took 3 weeks to get here. I will bolt to any toolbox.
DJ- Thanks man, its nothing spectacular (the toolbox) but it gets me by for what I do. As for the engine, it is going in as a complete drivetrain, so once I get everything else done it will go in though the bottom as a unit. And the wheels are on the back-burner for now. I'm gonna run the stock "Pumper" wheels in flat black w/ Sylvia's old PT tires on them initialy.

Looking good. Sometimes I wish I kept my old Chrysler Laser (85'). I do serch every now and then for a turbo Laser or Daytona. But never find what I am looking for. I just like the way it talks to you. "Your washer fluid is low" "your door is ajar" And the comm center is right cool
Very few 2dr cars had the voice box. Your Lazer was likely a rare one to have that. Did it have leather? Sunroof/T-top? Infinity audio? What are you "looking for"? I can find it for you.

It didn't have leather or the sunroof but had the infinity radio. If I remeber correctly it was a laser xt. Had the digital dash, the in dash computer that gave fuel milage and such. IT was a 85' so thats what I have been looking for to no avail.
Thats an L-body car, a "two door omni." They are fun cars. There is a Plymouth Turismo "2.2 edition" in Maurertown, Va for sale... $300.

I decided after much research and asking the experts that my goal of 300/300 (that is hp/lb ft) is possible on a stock Swirl head. My head flows better then a stock G-head so the need to port for super 60 300 mark is not needed. I did however "de berr" the ports...just so I can say I did something  The reality of it is I will likely come up short somewhere in the 280's...story of my life.
But hey, we can't let Lee have all the fun!!
Installed the oil pump and intermediate shaft, we modified the pickup for better flow.
Oil pan prep...
Oil pan and dipstick installed
Headgasket from mopar performance...
Finally....the head goes back on

Oh... and BLING!!!
So thats that for today, more to come tomorrow, stay tuned kids!!!

that engine looks really nice. You will be so glad that you are documenting it so well. I know you're getting excited about this, since it truly is getting very close to being done now. As for the 300 mark, that's what a boost controller is for.
Another day of good progress, but it wasn't without a cost...
The good news-
Cam is in
Water pump and alternator mount installed
All lines and sensors in
Timing belt installed
Painted oil pan
The bad...bad...news
The Taft Camshaft I paid $100 for is junk. The surface where the cam rides in the head is pitted and scored. I never noticed it until I was dropping it in. Car is running a stock 2.2L TII cam, still a good cam for 300h/p, with a good idle. I only loose about 20hp at 3500rpm.
The baddest of the news-
The beautiful valve cover you see in the above photos is nothing more then an expensive dust cover.
I think the gasket bunched up and on my way to 35ft/lbs it just snapped See the poll above.
Thanks for lookin.

I hate having good days ruined by bad news like these. That valve cover is just way too hot not to do it though. It matches the car and is going to just set up off the engine bay once it's done. I guess you can wait for a while, since replacing a valve cover should be a pretty quick and easy project, but might as well do it now if you've got the time and money.
ouch, sorry J-dawg. find yourself another cover to paint because, damn, that looks sweet.

Sorry to see this Jeff. I voted for repaint because it really does look terrific even just sitting on the stand. Good luck with your decisions.
all I have to say is wow Jeff. I've missed some of your progress on this lately, but that engine looks amazing. I'd stay with the orange valve cover, it looks great.

I voted orange too, it looks awesome Jeff!
The progress on your build has been amazing. I'm excited to see what kinds of numbers you're going to put down and the grin on your face when you take me for a ride in it =D
You have to expect some snags to come up, but it looks like you're plowing through and making progress! Godspeed~
