that was a lil more in depth than i had originally planned......but anyways.......mustangs and corvettes suck.
P.S.
I come from hick country where that is all i ever hear about so i have developed a strong hatred for all domestic "muscle" cars. My respect for them still stands, however, i hate most if not all of them with a passion. Just mostly due to lack of respect given to all the non-american manufactured cars out there. For some reason people in my town seem to believe a mustang can beat a Enzo or a Murcielago*sp. Hence my hatred.
Yah great writeup Gerald. Even though I love a turbocharged 4 engine, i agree that there is no replacement for displacement.
That said, you've seen the EVO FQ400 right ? That's the one they featured in Top Gear walking all over an AWD Murcielago at the track. Granted, that's an $80,000 (or maybe $60,000usd? i'm not sure) EVO with a much bigger turbo than stock.... but it does come with a factory warranty ! I think it also gets like 4 mpg haha.
Like said before, in my opinion it comes down to your personal style... whether you like American muscle or import hotness. I'll bet this new Mustang gives EVOs and STIs a run for their money on the track though =p

I know they already give the BMWs a run for their money...Mustang GT track cars cant handle the curves as well but end up leaving the BMWs on the straights. Saw a race on speed channel featuring the two.
Exactly, look at the results of the Grand Am Cup race at Daytona back in February. 1st and 2nd places were new mustangs.

evos have a buttload of torque, like 280 lb. ft. i think. but you have to get that hairdryer on the intake to spin up first!

No, I meant toqrue - it's not fair to say a car has massive turbo lag because you gun it at 30mph in 6th gear and the turbo doesn't spool up. It is fair to say the small engine has no torque (without that huge snail as you pointed out.)

well.. back on topic... lol... that car is hot... but I still probaly would not buy one.
still not as sexy as the original, but damn...what a fine automobile
I kind of wonder how this car will fit in the lineup. Will this replace the Cobra? If not will the Cobra be more or less extreme than this car? I'd like to see the GT350 be a race ready, stiff ass car for real men. Not that the Cobra isn't hardcore but I want it to me even more hardcore than that. As always though, the big question is weight and I know I'm not going to like the answer. Then again, it'd be the perfect opportunity to take out all sound deadening and use some lightweight materials.
As for the Evo, one that just occurred to me is that homologated specials (performance cars that are simply beefed up versionsof a cheaper mass market car: Evo/Lancer, STi/WRX/RS, Civic/Integra/R, Neon/SRT4) provide a unique opportunity to offer a ton of performance for relatively cheap. Hard to beat the bargain of the Evo or STi

Your statement is just wrong. I'd fly off the hinges about it...but then G would call me out on my anger mangement issues.

The sad thing is there is always room in the Mustang lineup for 6 different models...only one of them being hardcore enough for your average enthusiast.

And the performance gets even better when you put an STi or Evo in its element. Every time I read about another ls1 guy 'dominating' an evo/wrx from a 60mph roll I want to just bitch slap the fuck out of him and ask him if his Camero is ready to run on dirt. Because that is where those cars were meant to compete and out accelerating one from a roll is about as impressive as me out sprinting a marathoner.

This _IS_ the next cobra. I _really_ hope they make an 'R' version of this one.

In Top Gear's next comparo I'd like them to compare the Evo and STi vs the Viper, Vette, Elise, 997, and F430 on track. Then I'd like them to include an offroad section and see how all of the aforementioned cars do...
If no one had the balls (or money) to do that test, I'd like to see how much of an advantage the AWD bad boys would have in the wet vs. said sports cars. I suspect maybe the F430 could do okay with its advanced traction control system but the Viper and Vette would be at a distinct disadvantage. It'd make for some good viewing though *thumb up*

They also gave a lambo murcielago to a professional driver and the fat guy took an Evo FQ to see if the Evo could hang with the lambo. The lambo couldn't get anywhere near shaking the evo.

lol, this thread is awesome. actually g, i think his anger started well before he got rid of the wing. it probably started when he got his miata and brought it to summit point. you and me rolled up next to him and i said "nice car, fag" to which you started cracking up.
