Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Ah bummer man. Yeah I just dont see any benefit in switching because it ends up costing me a LOT more for a new phone when we're ready to upgrade, and I have always just paid for phones in cash (or gift cards, as it were)

We switched because they were giving us a "credit" each month to "cover" the phone payment. But line access was also double what is costs now. We actually just switched again so our line access was cut I half down to $20 but we lost our phone credit but worked out to be like $10 cheaper a month for 2gb more data. Also back when we did it, the offer was upgrade phones at any time after you pay off 50% but that too is gone and not something they were willing to grandfather in. I think it went to 75% for a little while but now if you do device payments, you're stuck till its paid off. What really sucks is say you get a s7 edge today. It'll cost you $33 a month but in 2 months, that price will probably drop to $30 or even $28. I understand it I guess. You pay the premium for brand new but I guess you notice it more when you're stuck paying for it longer instead of just being able to pay the whole thing up front.

^^ Yeah that's exactly how the guy on the phone was trying to sell it to me: "we'll give you a $20 / month credit" but for us it still worked out to be more money for a comparable plan. And then like you said, you can upgrade early any time you want but you are stuck paying the balance of whatever you owe on the phone that they just roll back into your payments again. It's like a version of a car lease where you're taking negative equity hits each time you trade the car in. Unless of course you keep your phone long enough to "pay it off", and then at that point I am sure they figure out a way to make their money back through higher line fees, etc..
I had to cut the guy off on the phone because he was getting pretty aggressive about the plan change, but my company pays for my half of our cell phone bill but will not pay for hardware upgrades (like a new phone). So no matter how he tried to cut it, "I" would be paying more every month vs. just buying the phone now and not getting roped into a worse service plan. 2 year service agreement is fine for me to compromise on, I have been really, really happy with Verizon ever since I switched from the abomination known as Sprint.

Ha, looks like I may end up with a free Gear S2 after all:

Reading the T&Cs, looks like I should have no problem getting this even on the 2 year contract plan. Telecom companies are so shady man, they employ some of the worst sales and customer service practices of any business. When my S7 gets here on Tuesday I'll plug in the ID numbers the site needs and report back if / when I get the Gear S2 for a review on that too since it will be free

I'm still totally undecided. Went and played with the s7 edge at best buy last night after dinner. And idk. I don't think it bothered me but I'm not sure I see the point either. I like the bigger battery and I think I may like the bigger screen for reading and stuff since I usually use my phone for everything now but idk. Lol

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Just buy the damn Edge.
S7 is here, crazy how easy it is to set up new phones and transfer everything over now. Updating at the moment and I'll report back later once it's finished.
Also submitted the info for my free Gear S2...and they sent me a stupid black sparkly case instead of the one I ordered, so I get to go to a Verizon store to exchange it today Otherwise, I could have done this entire purchase and transfer process from my couch.

I'm still torn between the two. Guess I have to order tonight though. Dammit, I've bought cars with less indecisiveness than this.

seems like you see no cons in the regular S7, so why even consider the edge?
I for one don't see the justification in paying over $100 more for the Edge, but that's just me

Battery size and screen size are the two main things I'm thinking. I was thinking I may like a bigger screen especially if the footprint isn't much larger which it's not. And more battery is never a bad thing. The only thing I'm not sure about is the actual edge. I can see what Lee is saying about the screen looking kinda weird. I didn't get dizzy but who knows with extended use. Also worried with the way I kinda rest my Palm on the side to grip the phone when I type.
Honestly, if they made a 5.5" regular s7, with the bigger battery, I'd be all over it probably. The edge does add some style points which could be cool considering I have to pay the full damn price (on payments) and still be locked into the phone. The whole point of payments was freedom. Damm Obamacare.

So after some face time with the S7 a few thoughts:
- With the Incipio case, it's actually the same size as my S4 with a Magpul case but with a slightly larger viewable screen. Definitely a bonus because I feel that this is the perfect size for a phone, especially if you travel a lot.
- Verizon sent me the very feminine sparkly black version of this case in my package, so I got to take it back to a local Verizon store and they swapped it for the matte black one I had originally ordered no problem. This case has an inner soft layer and a hard outer layer over top of it, kind of like a smaller profile Otterbox. Supposedly rated for 12 feet drops, and with this phone being mostly waterproof I'm hoping it will end up being a tank. I didn't bother to get the tempered glass screen protector as the new Gorilla glass even on the S4 is so good that scratches are a non-issue
- This thing is basically a much, much better version of my S4, which is a huge compliment. Samsung did away with most of the gimmicky features from what I can tell (automatic screen scrolling based on your eye movement, etc.) and simplified everything which is a nice change. I have the home screens set up basically identical to how I had it on my S4 so it was really easy to make the transition.
- I have emojis now? But the "swipe" texting I have gotten so used to is not as good on the OEM Samsung keyboard (not picking up the correct words) so I might look to install Swype or another good keyboard. It's hard for me to go back when I can text basically 2-3x as fast as regular key pressing
- The camera is worlds better. You can even take "3D" pictures by walking around an object and upload them to Google Drive so people can swipe their finger on the picture and see all sides of the object. But then honestly I don't see why you wouldn't just shoot a video. There are a ton of camera features so I will probably need a lot more time with it but so far it's massively better than the S4, especially with image stabilization
- Battery life I will hold judgment on as it's a new battery and it's getting heavier than normal use. The "fast charging" charged it from 0-100% in about 1hr 15 minutes, which didn't seem all that fast to me. But again it's a new battery and I'm trying to let it get drained out through a few cycles so it holds a better charge in the long run
- Fingerprint recognition is awesome
- Resolution on this screen and video playing is freaking outstanding. We watched and wirelessly streamed an episode of Vikings to my smart TV last night and it was like we were watching it on DVR.
Definitely would buy again, will report back with any issues....and here in about 6 weeks when I get my Gear S2

So, my boss did the promotion for the buy one get one S7 Edge with the intent of eventually giving the second one to a new employee. Decided against that and told me to just take it and i'll be giving my S6 Edge back for the new employee.
As Lee mentioned, it's stupid easy to change phones now. Pretty much everything came over the way I left it on the S6 which, oddly enough, kind of sucks. Kind of took away the whole, "this is new shiny and different!" Instead of poking around in settings and such it was all good to go which, again, awesome but kind of not fun at the same time.
In comparison to the S6 Edge it's definitely a heavier phone but i actually like that here. The S7 Edge definitely sits better in your hand and doesn't have that, "i'm holding the phone backwards" feel that the S6 Edge had. Haven't had an S7 in my hands, but i would imagine that the Edge is worth it; If nothing else just for the extra 600mAH battery.

Give the keyboard time Lee, it'll learn what you are trying to type, may just take a few times. Just when swyping either choose the right word from the options or delete it and type it in manually. But it should eventually pick it up. Cause now I can swipe Gallamore without an issue.

Yeah that is a good point, I forgot that the system is a little adaptive and you can override / force it to forget or remember certain words. I've been inputting stuff into the S4 for over a year now so it "knows" me pretty well

Yea that's start I thought too but as you can see, it still doesn't get all the words right. I have lots of trifle (trouble) with eris (words) I use literally many times a day. I only stay with this keyboard for the emojis

I have very little issues using swipe with the Swift Key app. It takes some time to learn your words/style of texting, but it works really well once it does learn.

I just had it relearn from sms. Apparently I hadn't done it since June. Also, I don't see a auto correct in settings. Like even as a different name. Guess it doesn't matter cause I'm upgrading if I can ever decide which s7 to get
