I mean okay sure. I wasn't necessarily bashing XB1 just stating the facts from companies that build out games for both platforms. I also don't feel like I've done a ton of XB1 bashing on here other than probably stating my opinion after owning both over a year ago, but whatever!

pretty sketchy rationale there for estimating sales figures.

maybe that guy is quoting numbers a month or two old, which makes the breakdown 30 ps4 to 25 xb1.
Not exactly earth shattering.

The fanboy stuff is retarded anyway. Gamers are much better off with 2 healthy competitors in the marketplace. All that matters as a fanboy is that there are enough consoles sold to make it worth developers to make games for your console.

Anyone else remember Neo Geo? They were so expensive back in the day that I only knew one super rich kid that had one. Well a company bought the rights to the system and games and made a handheld reboot that docks into a console and lets you play all of the old games on your big screen. Metal Sluggggg yesssss...had this in my Amazon wish list for a while, maybe I'll scoop it for my birthday.

Whoa for real? That is epic! What was the build process / setup costs like? PM me if you don't mind sharing and feel more comfortable discussing privately.

Original games and consoles are still SO expensive from what I have seen. An emulator cabinet would definitely be the way to go...I miss my old MKII cabinet

emulators do nothing for me. i've never found the timing and feel to be right.

i bought this as part of a group buy from japan. a guy arlington facilitated it. i think i paid about $450 for this "candy" cabinet, but it's worth about a grand. they simply don't exist and collectors buy them all immediately.

the standard neo-geo cabinet in the us is called a "big red." they go for $200-$500. the standard unit has 4 slots, but there is a 6-slot one out there, which is an absolute behemoth. the hardware is generally pretty stout. unless someone has done it recently, you want to replace sticks and buttons for about $60 and an hour or two work. simple stuff. monitors can go bad. they are really expensive to replace because tubes and magnets and stuff. games for the arcade are much cheaper than for the home console ("mvs" versus "aes"). on average, i'd say games are $50ish, but i've not bought in years since i got everything i wanted. some titles are $5 and other go for hundreds.

the cartridges can be finicky like with a nintendo so that's probably the biggest pain point. once everything is up and running satisfactorily it stays that way - nobody is spilling soda in them in your house, kicking them, etc. they were made to handle that kind of stuff. i turn my system on every month or two to charge the battery, which i replaced with a portable phone one from radio shack - common thing to do since the old batteries tend to corrode and ruin boards. a new battery will last a long time and hold a much bigger charge.

if you buy something, i'd be happy to intro you to the basic maintenance. it's all out of the web, but can be difficult to gather.

 Thanks man and I may take you up on that advice! (once we have a bigger home / more space I would love to add something like this to my man cave) Price seems on par with what I would expect for a cabinet too. NOICE!

Pinball is a lot of moving parts/maintenance/space/cost. Would love to have an Addams Family, but $6k and wouldn't be able to get it in the basement.

If I can fit Fish Tales in my last basement, I think you can get yours in the basement. The reason I haven't fixed mine yet is because I don't think the basement ceiling is tall enough to fit the flapping fish on top of the back panel.

They do break at times, but it's less frequent and costly than your car. I think my last fix was $15 in parts from the internet.

That's a 90 deg turn at the bottom. Big Grin

okay so i just need $6k burning a hole in my wallet. luckily, wife loves the game too so hopefully not too difficult a convincing act required. and surely it isn't going to lose value, right? hmmmmm.

my entire stable of bikes couldn't even afford it. that would be silly. any individual would barely put a dent. sooooo nope.

we just got a new roof. maybe next year?

apparently they're more like 8 in good condition. i also need the color display mod: http://shop.colordmd.com/colordmd-repla ... l-machine/

no shit, Pinball

I have World Cup Soccer 94 and Stern Star Trek

I gave WCS a complete restoration, only waiting on new repro ramps and it will be done.

when my basement is finished, Ill be picking up a couple more. LOTR is first, then maybe another bally/williams DMD from the 90s.
Anne wants WOz or Monster Bash. Oh and Medieval Madness. Expensive tastes.

I tried to like STTNG, but it just doesnt do much for me. Kind of like Addams Family. I must have dumped $50 into an AF on location trying to like it but just couldnt get into it.

I generally dont like widebodies, though someday I will have a TZ. But not in this house.

btw, if you guys ever in the denver area, go here it is amazing
