New (to me) vehicle suggestions

Good thinking Scott. I had completely forgotten about that. The genesis is nice! If you switch out the Hyundai badges for the 'kdm' badges most people don't even know what the car is. The R Spec is no slouch either. I would consider one if I was in this situation.

There are no Hyundai badges on a Genesis

*EDIT*

Whoa, did they change it? Just looked up pictures and now it does have the Hyundai badge. A friend of mine bought a stock genesis and it had it's on unique badge. Weird.

The first gen had Hyundai badges. My grandfather had the dealer install the winged badges before he got the car. It may have changed on newer gens.

Edit
Ken I think you are thinking of the Equis.

Like Rex said i had actually considered the R spec because on paper it's a decent car. I clearly don't have a problem with Hyundais as i bought one for Rachael. It's a great car full of value. When i do have a problem with them is when i am spending more than $20k. In the 35-45k range I'm going to be a little bit of a badge whore.

You're an idiot. More like, "I love tacos, but wouldn't be caught dead in taco bell."

I thought Mike's analogy was spot on. But if talking about tacos instead of mexicans means its not a racial issue, then it would be "I love tacos, they're full of value, but wouldn't pay more than $20 for one".

This thread just got retarded. Can someone explain why race was brought up at all?

Uh yeah ha I like the taco analogy better. Tacos and filets are both equally delicious but would you pay the same price for both? Would you actually pay almost $70k after tax, tags, etc. for a brand new Equus when you could get a gently used example of a comparable luxury marquee?

Keep in mind that those companies have been building luxury / sport luxury cars for a really long time, Hyundai started playing in the big boy car space over two years ago and they still have to hide their company logo by putting winged badges on them. There is nothing wrong with preferring a specific set of brands within a space of the car market because of the history, prestige and established quality.

I am all about getting value for your money. That is one of the reasons my last two tablets and last 4 phones have been Android based asia devices. Until Hyundai has a solid track record in the luxury car space (Equus sales are down every single month this year compared to last year, they are on pace to sell less than they did in 2011 and 2012) or dives in and puts the resources into its own dedicated marquee like the other major manufacturers have I am really not interested in being a purely bargain-driven car buyer.

And to be honest, the Hyundai we bought was actually pretty comparable in features and price to several of the other Jap options we looked at. The main reasons the fiance ended up in one is because of some extra "incentives" i was able to work in and the fact that she liked the looks of it the best.

Hyuandai = mexicans = tacos = we're racists. Duh :dunno: Buy a Hyuandai or you are too.

Ok yes I'm trolling. I can only assume Mike's intentions are equally non-serious. Typically a safe bet.

ditto. can't say i've ever paid more than $5 for one, but if there were a $20 one that was better than $25 ones, i'd buy it instead.

nono. your analogy is off. it's not tacos versus filets; that's racist. you're now saying you'd prefer an already chewed grade a steak over a grade b. that's gross, dude.
