They say you need at least $10k to swap one into a miata or E36, I would assume roughly the same thing for an E39. You could probably get a donor car for $3-4k, and then you'd drop another $5k or so on wheels, suspensions, bushings, and nice cosmetic bits, because the 525i non-sport you used for a donor would definitely not look like one of those things on the previous page.

Daily driven, 9-second CTS-V
Quote:This is actually my 3rd CTS-V and easily the most enjoyable car I've ever owned. Fully optioned car, AC Recaros, auto, suede everywhere, the works. Full weight, quiet on the inside while cruising, all options still in the vehicle and working. Stock short block/trans/driveshaft/rear end, all that stuff is still present. Its actually a very basic build up that works great for daily driven use! This thing still uses the stock fuel pumps, lines, everything in the stock fuel system with the exception of ID850's. We've managed to get 17mpg out of it with mixed highway/city driving, on a regular basis due to my driving its around 15mpg realistically though, which for the power and luxury IMO is great.

The cam is annoying, or the exhaust is too loud for ya? Two different things. The symphony emitting from the tailpipes of that car may be a little loud and obtrusive to some because of the sewer drain sized exhaust piping and basically no mufflers...but the sound of an American V8 doing it's thing with a high lift, long duration cam is music to my ears.
32V concerto

32V concerto  That's what I'm talking about right there. I love a fast and loud LS engine like the next guy, but nothing sounds better than a cammed Mustang with an aggressive exhaust. I miss mine
