a friend of mine is out of town for the week and we've been talking about trading cars for a little while. He told me to take it while he's gone so who am I to turn that offer down.

Its a '93 I'm pretty sure and completely stock, hence the wheels. Its definitely showing its age in a few small areas like a tear on the driver's seat, various interior pieces that are old, cracked or faded, etc. I can't really describe the sound of a V6 that redlines at 8k coming from right behind your head. It makes my balls tingle.

14k miles on it in the first year. Lots of highway/work/bicycle event travel I guess, but lots of miles with no commute. I really dont have anything bad to say about this thing, its fantastic. Zero problems, its quiet, its comfy and it does everything I thought it would do. Great for hauling bicycles/motorcycles, lots of interior room, decent fuel mileage on regular gas (15-16/21-23) and the trunk/dead hooker storage is awesome. The only thing I've done to the truck is get a bicycle 'rack' for the bed -



I dont see getting rid of this thing anytime soon. Best vehicle I've owned so far.

3.5 years later, still have the Ridgeline, still no plans to get rid of it. Crazy talk but its been great for what I need. I've got shiny new vehicle itch pretty bad, but doing a bunch of homeowner shit has left the budget empty for another car. Maybe next year?

Ive got the same shiny new vehicle itch problem bad as well. I have been kicking around buying some land though, and I was playing around with what a car purchase does to your debt to income ratio, even if you have basically no other debt, it can make like a 50 - 100k difference on what you "can afford" so Ive been trying to hold off until I decide whether I'm really doing the land thing or not. I did go sit in some CTS's though...do want

FYI Malibu has almost 180k miles on it, is on 3rd set of tires, second set of brakes. I change the oil about every 10-12k miles and its still going strong

Yeah, hence buying some land closer to work. I also date a girl who lives in Arlington, so that's bonus mileage too. Im thinking of just keeping it though regardless whenever I get a new(er) car, to keep the miles off. We'll see. I wouldn't care so much except carrying so many things on my insurance is like having another car payment..it'd be nice to simplify some.

45,000 miles a year... at 65 mph thats 700 hours a year/13 hours a week in the car. 13 HOURS A WEEK.

It would be a really large paycheck to convince me to do that.

I do pretty well, but it would take an even larger paycheck for me to put up with living in a dense urban area. Truth be told I actually don't mind where I'm at now, but WV is a pain in the ass for other reasons. Also, it would be nice to have a detached garage instead of a shitty "parking garage" at the house where two cars barely fit, and working on anything is basically impossible. Only problem is i dont have enough land where I'm at.

Anyway - interest rates are really, really low right now. Any vehicle oughtta be less than 5% or on some kind of 0% financing special. Even the used ('08) camper I bought a while back was cheap, cheap money. Probably a good time to buy for anyone looking for a newer car.

Forgot to mention - You really have to look at it as a difference between what you're already spending commuting. If you're spending 20 minutes in the car anyway (call it 20k miles a year), you're really only spending 6 more hours a week in the car.

In my particular case, things are better these days, knocked about 10 miles off the commute, dont have to take greenway anymore. I also drive home and to bluegrass jams and shit all over, so you're probably looking at an extra 5 -8k a year on recreational driving
