Here's another: so I figured out that the rattling coming from the front of my car is most likely due to my fender liner. Anything wrong with ripping that stuff out and driving without it or does it protect some major vital component that will ignite and kill me? As with all m3 bumpers, I gotta get in there and rebuild it anyways, I'm just annoyed of all the rattles. You think its annoying now, pull the fender liners and wait for the first time you run over sand/gravel. That annoying. 240 didn't have due to super flushness and it was nothing but little pings on metal all the time.
My PO was a tard is what Tyler's refering to DJ. My bumper is missing most of its pieces because....weight reduction maybe :dunno:

Oh and DO NOT rip out your fender liners. They are there to help control airflow in your wheel wells. You will reduce your gas mileage, get shit everywhere and make it look cheap all at once.

I mean the under body plastics. It's all pretty loose.
In other news, replacing my end links made the the clunking noise worse in the front end. Looks like I'm going to have to overhaul that too. Since I already did endlinks, don't think I need to do them again... agree? Here's the kit from Bimmerworld I was talking about, DJ.

I've heard meyle is shit. I think felton had a control arm come apart on him on track. Just what I heard though. Dj may have more knowledge about the actual quality, I've just heard bad things.

Just a quick update: Most of my cooling stuff has come in, and I'm waiting 'til another paycheck before I buy the front suspension overhaul kit. Hopefully, I can actually start doing some fun cosmetic modding this summer, which is I really wanted to do in the first place.

That's a good project to tackle when you have plenty of time anyway. Otherwise you end up like me bolting your car back together in DJ's garage at 9 PM on a Saturday.

So, i'm gonna swallow my pride and admit what happened this weekend. I'll take all the ridicule you throw, I'm fine with that, just realize, at the moment, I'm pretty sure I fucked up. Bad.
I started replacing my cooling system this weekend. It went well. Got everything drained, pulled out and ready to go. Re-installed the thermostat, water pump, new hoses, expansion tank and radiator. The works. Sunday night I let the car run to operating temperature, everything went fine, with no problems whatsoever.
As recommended by multiple DIYers, I let the car cool overnight and took it for a test drive Monday morning. Everything was going fine for about a half mile.
Then it happened.
First a pop. Then steam. I pulled over a bout a half mile from my house and checked under the car. Coolant was leaking everywhere, and it was flung all over the place. "Fuck," I thought. So I nursed it back home.
Half way up my driveway a metallic scraping noise started coming from the engine. Pulled over, and parked it.
So yesterday, I discover that the cooling fan got loose and scraped the radiator. "No problem," I said. New radiator and cooling fan and I'm golden. So I let it rest and did my work.
Last night, I had a weird ass dream that there was more to it. No joke. So first thing I did today was pull the radiator, remove the belts and check the water pump.
I wish I didn't.
Long story short, and I still don't know what really happened, but the water pump got loose and more or less spit metal shards into the engine. The nuts that hold the water pump on are totally gone, little bits and pieces are in the water pump housing.
So, I'm getting it towed. Though I'm certain it's fucked for good. It's sad. I really loved the fucking thing. I thought I had everything torqued properly, all the pieces were back together, I was careful and thorough as can be... but I suppose it wasn't enough. Don't really know what happened at all, but I suppose I'll keep you guys updated. Good thing is that it wasn't really driven at all like that. Bad thing is, and I'm just speculating, but there's gonna have to be a rebuild. Or a new car.
Maybe a camry, or a $500 minivan.
Cool story bro, amiright?

Dude, flush the coolant system and quit your whining. Why would it be "ruined"? doesn't even need a rebuild. Your wp ate itself, no big deal.

I'd start with Rexy's suggestion and see what comes out. If you cut the car off when it happened, you might be lucky.

Not like its going to get worse by trying. Ask me about the time the crank pulley bolt came out on my Porsche 944 while on track........
Its fine, just flush the cooling system. The metal bits wont have gotten anywhere else.

+1, very unlikely to have done any "real" harm. Flush it all out.
