What doesn't?
I mean, this is a matter of some debate in higher, faggier circles. The whole 'Are video games art?' question sort of hinges on it. I mean, look at movies. There are action movies that are "good" while having a terrible terrible storyline. *cough*michaelbay*cough*. Doesn't make them not good. But then there are movies that, while having action, aren't *about* the action, they're about the people the action is happening to. You can't pretend that's the same thing.
BSG is maybe a great example of what I'm talking about. The graphics and backgrounds and SFX were amazing...but would you have watched it without the characters?

Entertainment value in a story of a video game.
I just want to kill shit and not die a lot in the process... that's probably why I buy 1-2 a year and got bored with Red Dead Redemption in about two hours.

rex doesn't understand that, therefore we're wrong. that's all i've gathered from this. and i need to play my games slower because i'm not enjoying them. there is a single perfect balance and rex knows it. we do not. we're not gamers.

CaptainHenreh Wrote:Yeah. See, I'm not gonna say Lee is doing it wrong. Because whatever, play how you want. But he's definitely not getting the whole experience the developers intended for him to receive.
Damn Mikey, your reading comprehension sucks. I am not suggesting you, you know, play the game slower or whatever. But earlier I asked if all your team mates were loyal, and you said "No." That means, without a doubt, that you *did not* do all the missions. You didn't blow up all the shit. You didn't kill all the dudes. AAAAAAAND You didn't get all the story. And hey, whatever, that's cool. All I am trying to say though is that you didn't get the entire measure of the experience the developers wanted you to have. (Or at least, provided for you to receive.) If you got "enough" then that is fine. Again, I ain't saying you're wrong. But this very thing actually relates to the way ME3 ends.
See, ME2's ending (who lives, who dies) is directly dependent (like, DIRECTLY) on whether or not you took the time to access all of (or at least, the lion's share) the content. (Note: If you were happy with half your crew kicking the bucket, then cool, not my point.) ME3, on the other hand, had basically the same ending whether you accessed all of the content or did the absolute bare minimum to progress the action.
But seriously Mike, I'm honestly not saying you are "doin' it 'rong". Play as you like, it's your money and it's your time. Not gonna judge you for it or whatever. But, you know, I'll ask you kindly to not be all "WTF it's just a game, geez dude" when we're clearly not playing the same way, and definitely not getting the same experience.
I guess what I mean is, if you fuck like you play video games, good for you but I feel sorry for your partner.

I believe the use of "you know" and "whatever" would appear as passing judgement, even if none is intended.
You know, passive aggressively, or whatever. ;-)

I gotcha, don't mean it that way, honest. I actually mean "what ever." I'm not telling anybody to DO anything or to play any certain way. I'm just saying, if you DO choose to, say, rush through a game like Mass Effect, you're definitely going to miss something.

Don't know if anyone really cares about GTA anymore but I still think they are fun to play so here is the latest on GTA V. Lots of leaks from a former Rockstar North employee. Seems like they are trying to make things more and more realistic which is good. http://playstationlifestyle.net/2012/03/28/rumor-former-rockstar-employee-leaks-gta-v-details-including-main-character-and-release-date/

hey rexy, what was your military strength at when you beat this biotch? i'm at 4088 and based on the remaining achievements must be pretty close to done. i think the meter filled up at 3k or so so i'm guessing anything over that has no effect.

I'll have to check. I know my readiness was only 63%, and I was able to access the "Synergy" option so my total military strength must have been 4600 or so at a minimum, however it must have been LESS than 8000, because I didn't get the "extra" scene after destroy...This seems likely, because there were two missions I "played myself out of" by not doing them before Tuchanka.
But it really doesn't matter. If you really like green explosions, your EMS must be higher than 2800, so based on the amount of multiplayer you roll in you should have your choice of 'splosion color.
1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442
8000 is possible? jfc. i don't know how you'd get that. i'm really almost out of missions and achievements. there can't be too much left. i may have played myself out of some stuff i suppose?

I don't know if 8000 is actually possible or not. I know that in order to have the "shepard breathing" ending, you need an EMS of 5000. For my 63% Galactic Readiness, I would have needed 8000. (Whether that's possible I don't know).
I know you also get additional war assets from importing characters from previous games that you DO NOT get just playing through ME3.
However, as I said, the "best" possible ending is with an EMS of 5000. If your Galactic Readiness is 100%, then you'll need military assets of 5k. If it's less than 100%, you'll need more. But if all you're after is the "synergy" (green 'splosions) ending, just go ahead and finish it out, because you're there, I'm sure.
It's also worth noting that bioware clearly has completely misunderstood their own lore, they are going to be delivering an "extended cut" of ME3: http://blog.bioware.com/2012/04/05/mass-effect-3-extended-cut/
Specifically "For fans who want more closure in Mass Effect 3, the DLC will offer extended scenes that provide additional context and deeper insight to the conclusion of Commander ShepardÔÇÖs journey."
*sigh* They still don't get it, but whatever. Karpyshyn was clearly the "big picture" guy over at bioware, and I suspect the Star Wars MMO took a lot of creative energy away from Mass Effect.
Ending sucks, no matter what you do, the end. :finger:

You'll be definitely collecting some from TIM's base, and of course the Crucible itself counts. I assume you've done the 'citadel walkby' fetch quests? You get war assets from every one of those.
In addition, there's "third fleet" stuff spread all over, if you haven't visited & scanned every system, then there's war assets you're leaving on the table.
1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442
still working on the walkby stuff. pretty sure i've collected them all. no chance i'm rewalking that entire place a 5453rd time. still more scanning to do, but that's easy-peasy. i don't think finding 5k with what i have left will be a problem.
