UVA/JMU summerduck meet
#1
hey, this is chris schilling from cavalier association of vehicles, the UVA car club.

for the past two years we did a meet with the VT car club people, which was, well, uninspiring. brian maeng, MM alumnus and charlottesville alcoholic, says that you all are good people.

would your club be interested in doing something in the way of late-season drag racing (scenic and well-kept summerduck, richmond, even waynesboro) on a sunday afternoon or friday night, then coming back to cville for a cookout and meet. it would be low-key, but i think it would be a good time for both clubs.

i guess i'm asking for a show of hands, but also the contact info of the officers of the club. let me know if you have any alternate suggestions.

Sounds like a good time. I'd even volunteer our place again if it came down to it - we have a grill, lots of space, and few neighbors Smile I'm in, hopefully the Z will be ready for a drag race in a few weeks...

Hey there UVA!

We're always open for new events. I'm not sure at the moment who all would drag race, but we'd be down for a cookout.

You can PM me on here or email me at procopcp@jmu.edu. I'll work on setting this up with you guys.

Duck tape a rocket to an old station wagon and you'll win the drag race and a darwin award!

But yeah...I'm game.

P.S. Does anyone know where I can find a rocket...cheap?

how about you come to our autocross instead and we do a bbq there? driver vs. driver grants more bragging rights than car vs. car Smile

Good call. We'll all go to an AutoX and drive the exact same car...right?

Wait, you're telling me that isn't how it works? We still drive our own cars...and they are all different and this affords a different advantage to each individual? So that the driver with the best time might in fact, just be reflecting the advantages his car offers?

I'd be down for drag racing...even something as lame as the 1/8 mile.

And if Mike wants to come I'll let him take turns with me in the GS-T...just so when I put down quicker E.T.s and higher traps he can't complain about the car.

No, because autocross is 90% driver, 10% car. If you suck at driving, you're not going to be fast in anything.

bingo... i could go out there in a 90hp civic and potentially beat a guy in a ferrari. that would NEVER happen at a drag strip.
