The XDM's got two safeties but they're pretty non-intrusive, one grip and one trigger safety.

trigger discipline ... it should be the first thing you teach. and that should be your safety. dont put your finger on that until you are ready for things to happen. safety or not... thats still the key.

no worries, i have plans to round out the arsenal. probably a POS ex-military (sks, mosin, enfield, whatever) rifle to start just to put holes in shit (i used to have an sks... so much fun), then a rifle to actually get the job done, and then a shotgun.
