How so? I felt one of those up a while back and liked it, I just never pulled the trigger on it (hyuck) and bought it :dunno:
I think it has to do with "tolerance stacking". 4th Gens have had a lot of extraction/ejection issues, some failures to lock back on a empty mag, and just generally don't seem to be as "rock solid reliable" as the 3rd gens. It's just a worse gun than what it was, when it should have been *better*. The fact Glock is still selling brandy new third gens alongside the 4th tells me that Glock itself doesn't have supreme confidence in them either.

^ I shot one of those Phantoms and I was pleasantly surprised at the ergos, trigger, and price of the gun.. Great gun to go with.
Had a fantastic time at the range today. It has been a long time since I have shot a gun and the first time I have ever shot a pistol. What an adrenaline rush. My buddy said I did a really good job shooting for my first time with a pistol. Most of my spreads were pretty consistent and close to where I wanted them....I blame the video games. Except with this BEAST:
(sorry for the video being sideways)
My buddy's 38 special (I think?) revolver with some kind of extra gunpowder rounds. My hand was numb after about 50 rounds through that thing. It was super hard to aim with only one sight at the end of the barrel. I managed to at least hit the form on the target from two separate distances with that gun and managed a few bullseyes...but I would guess no matter where you hit someone with that thing it's pretty much going to take them out.
So the other gun I shot was a Springfield XD-40 subcompact and I loved it. We went to the gun store afterwards and I held a bunch of guns (including a really sick $1200 HK) and the Springfield was the one I liked the most. I like the grip and trigger safeties, the pull is smooth and the gun is controllable and it's a 9mm so the rounds are cheap. Filled out the paperwork, sheriff's office should have my permission to buy papers in two weeks
Unless you guys tell me otherwise that this gun sucks, this is the one I'm going to pick up with the bi-tone.
It's $550 in all black and $600 for the bi-tone which I think is a fair price. I saw that gun that I think it was Channing that bought...the S&W 308..which is an awesome little gun. I could literally get this Springfield and that S&W for the same price as the HK!

550's not bad. I'm not sure you could get it much cheaper new anywhere else.
My only recommendation is that you buy a FULLSIZE for your first gun, instead of a compact. But, natch, it's your decision.

I think you can get it with a longer barrel...is that what you mean?

Well, sort of.
There are four sizes of XD:
Subcompact
Compact
Service
Tactical
In the XD(m) you have a Compact and a Service size. The differences are not just barrel (slide) length, but also grip length. A longer grip allows more control, a longer slide generally increase reliability while decreasing felt recoil and increasing accuracy (from the longer sight radius). The only real reason to get a compact is conceal-ability, otherwise "full" size counterparts are better in every respect. For a first firearm, I'd recommend a fullsize. It will be easier and more pleasurable to shoot, and when you get to the point of concealed carry, it's actually not that bad to conceal. I regularly conceal carry my full size S&W M&P9, and never get so much as a sideways glance. People see what they want to see.
Just some food for thought.

The AUG is pretty sweet after the latest patch. The WA200 still blows.

Don't looks now Mikey but rednecking and ricing are the same thing... just on different things.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Looks awesome Rex!
So I put in an order for one of these bad boys for when I pick up my pistol next weekend (hopefully).
Viridian X5L Gen 2 Light / Laser with strobe

It's on the more expensive side of lights / lasers but my birthday is coming up and I overbudgeted for my tax bill last year so I figured I would go for it. I was told if I was going to get a light / laser to get a good one. It's universal so in case I change my mind (likely) I can use it on any gun with a rail. Stoked!
